    Pros

Good salary and benefits. Better than average time off for new employees.

    Cons

Nurse on nurse bullying and incivility are ignored. Management is more concerned with being part of the group than promoting a team environment, willing to sacrifice the nurse bullied and allowing impunity even when physical violence is threatened. The bullied nurse is therefore further isolated and victimized.

    Advice to Management

Actually evaluate your employees yourself rather than asking the bullies to do it for you.

I have been working at Nemours Children's Health System full-time

    Pros

Great people to work with who truly care about the children. Beautiful building and great location, close to the highway to get to PA and NJ

    Cons

Poor benefits and pay. Too many leaders and not enough workers. Short staff throughout the organization and still there are cutbacks and layoffs

    Advice to Management

Hire from within and promote your hard workers. Allow your staff to advance instead of keeping them contained to a certain level. Only certain people get promoted

I have been working at Nemours Children's Health System full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great pay, great floor staff (usually). Benefits are really competitive as well.

    Cons

0 sense of balancing what a particular floor can effectively staff based on how many nurses available during the day or night. Management levels above the floor manager are aloof and oblivious to the needs of nursing and support staff.

    Advice to Management

Stop making policy that you think looks good on paper and instead actually listen to the people working and dealing with patient care on a daily basis.

    Pros

Great co-workers on a multi disciplinary level, Overall, Nemours was a good place to work. Benefits were good as well.

    Cons

Lack of progressive culture hospital wide. Often push back related to initiatives and barriers unable to be removed for further progression.

    Advice to Management

Understanding that employees want to do their best work and limiting individuals disengages their drive for improvements

I worked at Nemours Children's Health System (Less than a year)

    Pros

The staff are amazing. Some of the most committed and dedicated nurses I have ever had the privilege of working alongside. The interprofessional relationships are stellar as well - the doctors actually seek out the opinions and information from the nurses, and listen to our concerns.

    Cons

Management is a shambles. The interim director of the ICU engages in emotional and mental harassment of nurses. The CNO verbally berates other nurses over the telephone in a teleconference where everyone can hear. Staffing patterns are often poorly thought out, and occasionally unsafe.

    Advice to Management

Hire actual critical care pediatric nurses to run your PICU. When your best people are silent, there is a serious problem and you are about to lose them.

I have been working at Nemours Children's Health System full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Nemours has a wonderful mission and the majority of the people I have had the pleasure of working with are hardworking and committed to this mission.

    Cons

Healthcare is a tough industry going through a lot of change. I do not believe it is unique to Nemours. If ambiguity is difficult for you then healthcare may not be the industry for you.

    Advice to Management

Spend some effort retaining talent. The job market is opening up and there are ample opportunities for qualified employees outside of Nemours.

    Pros

Mostly positive work environment with colleagues working for the advancement of children's health. Looking for new opportunities and ways to work in the non-clinical realm which is interesting for the future of medicine.

    Cons

Sometimes hard to see the big picture when recent restructuring is taking place and thinking about the future of one's career with the organization. Hard to figure out where non-clinical work fits into larger scope of being a children's health system.
