Neo slow pokes at NPI, Systems, Market trends, and backwards thinking executives!

    Pros

Some of the Marketing PLM’s understand the market and share their thoughts across functional groups.

    Cons

Start with cleaning house in Japan FAB’s which under perform to industry standards InP technology. Yielding less than 5% is at the bottom of the industry. Send some of the VP’s and directors to anger management as they often use foul language and bully team members. Eliminate at least one of the two factories in China and sell Fremont fab. Outsource the backend testing and assembly to Fabrinet instead of manufacturing ICR’s, Passive, Module Pluggable, MCS Switches in China. Eliminate underperforming RD teams that don’t meet datelines in NPI’s. Company has not had 30% GM since 2016 which is far behind competition. Taking mandatory shutdowns, no to little bonus, no raises is not Silicon Valley thinking. Get a 21 st financial reporting system instead of outdated in house and 2005 Oracle BI.

    The bonuses are bad

    Pros

You get to learn tons and tons of cool hardware technology.

    Cons

Pay sucks. Don't expect a raise unless you go to your manager with a job offer from another company. Then they will match, maybe. Bonuses suck. I got $500 per year, and a thank you. Five hundred dollars! Meanwhile, top managers paid themselves close to 100% of their generous salaries in bonuses. Break room sucks. One time in an attempt to save money on operating expenses they removed the "expensive" Keurig coffee machine, and "expensive" paper cups were substituted with small foam cups. The contribution to the bottom line was zero, but everyone was very pissed off. Hours are very long. No overtime pay.

    Pros

Most managers and empolyees are friendly. There are several groups of employees that work well together and are productive. Most people do not work long hours. The end of the year parties are very nicely done.

    Cons

There are too many meetings. The meetings are not structured to be productive. Most of the managers spend the day from one meeting to the next and the worst part is that the meetings are information meetings with few or no action items. The entire management team really need to take leadership and time management classes. The place is also very political for such a small company.

Test engineer with a year of experience

    Pros

Opportunities to work with different group of engineers are encouraging. My manager allows a lot of opportunity in me to work on individual project with not much experience to start with

    Cons

Might encounter personnel that are difficult to work with. Overall not too bad. Salary are below average to market. Lack of raise in salary drove my team to low morale

If you value your Optical NW Engineering career.......RUN AWAY!

    Pros

None that I can think of. Though, Neo's definitely a good place for a very junior engineer to get some initial experience....then you'll know "what not to do" for the future. Bad experiences can be the best experiences.

    Cons

Hmmm, where does one start? How bout "At The Top", where the model is to try and hire smart people "only to tell them how/what to do", and if your way isn't "his" way, it's the highway. Then again, this company's nickname is very well known in industry as the "Neo-Tards". Current technology leadership is inept, demands are unrealistic and most couldn't engage to follow a simple process of opening a can of Pepsi, even after explaining simple details for the 15th time. Seriously, who designed the 12 step process to send a FedEx?
