I have been working at Nestlé USA full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Schedule flexibility, decent pay but doesn't match up with what they tell you what you are going to make. Vacation time is good but it comes with a penalty.

    Cons

Work life balance is off. Pay is structured so you have to work ridiculous amounts of overtime to get to it. Not sure if you can even reach the target and remain in the 60 hour workweek that we are allowed. You basically lose money on vacation because you don't earn any overtime that gets you to the target pay number. The more vacation time you have the less you make for the year, the system works against with more seniority. The subject is brought up repeatedly but nothing is done to fix it. There are constant reroutes and restructuring that gives a constant feeling of uneasiness. Whenever there is a reroute there is more work added at either the same or less pay.

    Advice to Management

Be more transparent with employees. Have more empathy

I worked at Nestlé USA full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Large company with a decent package of benefits. Prior to gay marriage becoming legal. they gave benefits to gay domestic partners (which prior to Dreyers being acquired by Nestle, they did not).

    Cons

Dreyer's accounting got redistributed to other Nestle organizations. When European management took over and the casual dress code was abandoned to formal business attire. Strong emphasis on job metrics, even for less measurable positions like the office manager. Nestle claims to be focused on health and nutrition but it is propaganda. Nestle makes a lot of junk food. They are still the same unscrupulous company who when the U.S. banned baby formula in the 1970s, they sold it to third-world countries. A recent controversy was that they pay next to zero for spring water in California during an extended drought and then ship it out of state, The former CEO stated that water should be "privatized."

    Advice to Management

Reassess your company values and then live up to them.

I have been working at Nestlé USA full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There is no better high visibility and high stakes environment in the United States than Nestle USA. With this comes the opportunity to connect with some of the best minds in food manufacturing and constantly be on the cutting edge of the field.

    Cons

However, with all of the visibility and focus that comes with Nestle USA, there tends to be high stress and many people who want to be involved in every decision. This often leads to decisions taking much longer to make than at a smaller start up. This often leaves Nestle behind its competitors in market innovation.

    Advice to Management

Continue to cut red tape during the realignment to ensure we become as agile as possible in the market.

I worked at Nestlé USA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's a paycheck, with somewhat better than average wages. There's a diverse employee base and it's nice to work with people of different ages and a wide range of ethnic backgrounds.

    Cons

Monotonous line work, inconsistent management styles between departments, set up like a prison with turnstiles, and multiple scan-in points, nepotistic with certain employees getting away with doing nothing at the expense of their colleagues, lack of job security with a high turn-over rate from both dismissal and attrition, long hours and frequent forced over-time. If you work here, you'll be treated like manufacturing equipment.

    Advice to Management

Be more selective of those whom you grant authority over the laborers in the departments, keeping in mind that those who most want to control others are very often those least suited to do it.
