I worked at Nestlé USA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Recently they extended their maternity leave to 6 months with most of those being paid, 401K, above average PTO for U.S. companies, very nice people

    Cons

Began seeing downsizing through attrition before I voluntarily left the company (not backfilling vacant roles or eliminating manager/director level roles), major focus on cost cutting made for a lot of stress with little appreciation towards the end of my time

    Advice to Management

Reduced upward mobility is going to increase turnover

I have been working at Nestlé USA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good Culture, Mobility, Diverse crowd, Extremely good benefits, enough paid time off, good bonuses too. Overall very good company to work for

    Cons

Mobility might be a problem for some people as the company expects you to very flexible and ready for change during your first few years of working

    Advice to Management

No pertinent issues at this point. I believe the company is headed in the right direction and takes very good care of its employees. We recently just moved the headquarters from LA to DC

I have been working at Nestlé USA as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Knowledgeable coworkers with a honest desire to help. Relaxed environment that allows you to choose your own hours (somewhat job and manager dependent). Free food. Good benefits if you happen to be an employee. Relatively consistent commitment to safety is refreshing

    Cons

Firing people is difficult, which results in many employees doing very little work and of poor quality. A very political environment that seems to impact every decision and project. The managers (local level) are generally weak on leadership and many seem to rely on their subordinates to do all of their work (mine does). HR at my specific center is worst than bad, they seem to actively try to make peoples working life worse. Roughly a third of the center is run by contract employees working through a contracting company (temp agency) with positions that are permanent but no chance of being hired permanently. Even for official employees motivation issues are common due to lack of upward mobility & poor pay relative to the rest of the market. Bureaucratic & slow to respond to most issues or opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Be more transparent and honest in decision making. Too often key decisions are made that seem to come from nowhere and don't make sense. We aren't going to agree on every decision, but it would be easier to go along with them if the reasons were shared.

I have been working at Nestlé USA full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Great Work Life Balance
    Challenging work
    Good Development opportunities

    Cons

Depending on the group, too much favoritism
Career pathing not clear unless you know people

    Advice to Management

Work on balancing the roles/responsibilities. Currently the work is not being given to the most talented person, but the person who goes along well with managers.

I worked at Nestlé USA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, guaranteed hours, very good company history, solid positioning in the industry, reputation, benefits, opportunities to work in other areas

    Cons

Few third shift incentives, division of labor unequal (some people work more than others), breaks are hard to get covered

I have been working at Nestlé USA full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Big company with billions in revenue.

    Cons

I work in the foodservice division and it's a complete joke. This ship is sinking faster then a brick in the water. It's a very power hungry environment with many just riding it out till retirement. Company really doesn't give two cents about their people and are awful liars when they say they care. The culture is super ego driven and management does nothing about it. Organization does not think the lack of diversity is an issue despite 90%+ directors and above being white males(and I am a white male saying this). Regarding top level management, there is again a talent gap as only a few can actually lead.

    Advice to Management

Be genuine. Hire diversity in the form of age, gender, race, and sexuality. Don't punish those that think differently. Check your ego at the door. Gen X and Y are the future of the company. Making moving to Solon,OH more attractive to these groups.

I have been working at Nestlé USA full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

This is a huge company that has purchased many good brands, and also has some good legacy brands. (until they are challenged). These brands help to support the mediocre management teams across the organization.

    Cons

Constant cost cutting to achieve numbers and constant management rhetoric about how "people are our greatest assets" - ya right! More like the greatest assets for management to cut in order to achieve their numbers in the fastest way.

    Advice to Management

Ask yourself everyday if you personally have added value for the shareholders today?
After you get done talking about what should be done, look around and try actually doing something instead of just imagineering and barking unrealistic demands.
Soon you will realize there is nobody left to blame (because the good people left the company or you let them walk out). - You cannot save yourself to glory!
The only thing left is mediocrity that can prepare unrealistic PowerPoint presentations, talk about shallow compliance issues or some swiss guidance, and leeches living off of their predecessors successes in businesses like the coffee business.
Suggest you all pack a lunch and go home because the environment created in last 5 years is nothing short of Toxic.

It will take another 5 years for a change agent to make improvements, and another 5-10 years to build the momentum again.
What a shame, used to be a great company!
    And everyone knows it,
The only option left at this point is radical surgery starting with top management (which is unimpressive), or give the company to 3G to fix for you!
