I worked at Net Optics as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people are friendly and like to hold events to appreciate the work the employees have done. They prioritize customers and employees.

    Cons

It is a small company that does not give a clear growth for your career. They can sometimes be a bit disorganized too.

    Advice to Management

Set a yearly review and give some advice on how to advance or develop in the career. Explain how you obtain your position.

    Pros

(Net Optics was recently acquired by Ixia, so this review is historical in nature). This was a fun company to work for; impressive "team-building" events, regular company perks, generally up-beat atmosphere fuelled by a charismatic CEO.

    Cons

There were, in reality, 2 company leaders; the owner and the CEO. In a sense, Net Optics was comprised of 2 different sub-companies with their own measures and "virtual" reporting structures; the Jewish team and the "rest". The Jewish group acted very entitled, which created an "us" and "them" structure and a feeling that you needed to constantly "watch your back".

    Advice to Management

A company priding itself on being apolitical turned out to be quite the opposite, with the added challenge of the cultural bias.

I worked at Net Optics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Products are decent and are generally well made and priced competitively. Some of the technical staff are quite good and helpful. A few of the inside reps are excellent.

    Cons

Poor executive sales leadership. Mediocre sales compensation plan, low commission rates. Very confusing product configuration and quote system. Some of the top executives are greedy and egocentric and don't value employee contributions and are not supportive as a whole. Some of the technical staff pass the buck and make excuses and are not team oriented or customer centric.

    Advice to Management

Sell the company because you don't have a clue how to run a sales organization or an effective technology developer.
