I worked at NetApp full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

12+ years. Great culture! Relationships are important to get work done which worked out good for me. Overall a positive experience. Compensation and benefits are great.

    Cons

Leadership changes impacted business and ability to scale and transition in difficult declining industry. Annual reductions in force impacted morale.

    Advice to Management

Be transparent. Right size the company once and for all!

I have been working at NetApp full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Opportunities are available if you connect and reach out to different people. There are some outstanding people who really do live the NetApp values and are great to work with.

    Cons

For every great person at NetApp are a number of very difficult people. Some are in big leadership positions and are secured. Some are day-to-day contributors and NetApp is too nice to do anything about them. Layoffs seem arbitrary and doesn't necessarily weed out these difficult, unproductive folks. Salary seems to be on the lower range for Silicon Valley.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to identify people who are leeches and bringing other people down and either remediate the problem or get rid of it. It hurts the rest of the population when they are still there and are impossible to remove.

I have been working at NetApp full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

People you work with everyday are the BEST

    Cons

Senior managers do not know how sell the new technologies they buy. The FAS group will do everything it can to kill any new technologies. Top level management ignores it.

    Advice to Management

Invest in the technologies you have that are NOT fas. Otherwise NetApp will become irrelevant.

I have been working at NetApp full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Overall great culture. People generally want to do the right things. People, Profit, Planet, etc. People generally treat others well. Depending on which department you are in, there are some that are more driven than others.

    Cons

Recently in 2015 onward, there has been a relentless cost cutting effort. They may be overlooking key strategies and initiatives because of the focus on margin and cost control.

    Pros

    Interesting work.
    Great benefits and perks

    Cons

Seems like the stock price is more important than the technology, which prompts layoffs often.

I have been working at NetApp full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Broad and flexible solution stack to implement storage "your way" for private, public, and cloud. Strong Industry Alliances and Partnerships. Great culture. Well positioned to adapt and grow in the market.

    Cons

For some some job functions, there is a lack of structured pathways for internal career advancement or diversification. Without that structure, an employee could be blind to new opportunities that could perfectly match their strengths. One the same token, a hiring team may be blind to the best available internal talent.
