I have been working at NetApp full-time

    Pros

    Great Benefits
    Good Work Life Balance
    Competitive Compensation Package

    Cons

OCI Quality Management lacks technical expertise and direction.
Women management walks around, talks, and flirts most of the day
Management dislikes promoting people so little room for growth and development

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees. When multiple employees complain about a manager, do something. Change is good. Management must change from time to time if they lack the technical expertise and direction.

I have been working at NetApp full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Work/life balance, collaborative culture, volunteer-time-off policy. I've had opportunities to work in different technology areas--product code, quality, developer tools.

The initiatives around quality have made it easier to find bugs sooner and back them out of the code base; we are on a good trajectory in this area.

I have great relationships with my colleagues and the first few levels of my management chain.

    Cons

Life as a Data ONTAP developer has its frustrations, starting with access to the engineering environment (via the vmware horizon client) and erratic build farm performance; these make it hard to be as productive as we'd like to be.

Some programs were killed several years (and million$/billion$) too late, and some acquisitions should never have been made; it's frustrating to see all this waste and to be told there's not enough money to make this or that improvement for developers.

    Advice to Management

Don't squander our profits on dubious acquisitions or programs that you're going to cancel before they pay off; invest instead in keeping your developers productive.

If you're going to solicit "tough questions" from employees, don't let them go unanswered.
