    Pros

work-life balance, good people, decent benefits

    Cons

frequent layoffs, poor management, low raises, no path for advancement

    Advice to Management

stop the frequent layoff's, the talent lost due to low moral has left the company a shell of it's former self. if you need to layoff, you need to do it quickly and decisively and then you can get back to trying to improve moral and keep the employee's you have left. The last two years have been nothing but time spent doing the minimum while looking for better opportunities elsewhere.

I worked at NetApp full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very bright and smart engineers work at this company. The engineers try very hard to do the right things. Wages are very competitive.

    Cons

The company has endured 5 layoffs in the past 4 years. The employee moral struggles with understanding the way out of the dismal events. Still a lot of "start-up" qualities to the operations of the company - have not matured to what is needed for a larger company.

    Advice to Management

Need to figure out a different way to make the numbers than laying off engineers. Trust is something that is earned very hard and laying off people has a tendency to compromise this trust between employees and the company.

I have been working at NetApp full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

NetApp used to be a great company with fantastic opportunity, benefits and great technology.
Note to potential new employees - The RIF support process is top notch.

    Cons

Reorganization of the company has taken it from #4 to last on Fortune 400 companies to work for.
Why would management eliminate OEM E-Series business without at least considering applying internal Sales as an augmentation?
RIFs are/will be continuous and HR does not support existing RIF'ed employees find internal jobs. Very sad.

    Advice to Management

Obviously dropping off Fortune 400 companies list is the message you need to deal with.
Customers and certainly NetApp employees "are" dealing with this.
Review director's management experience, leadership skills and certainly ability to apply new technology into the product line.
Start managing the Sales Department to ensure all NetApp products have the marketing/sales infrastructure to survive and maybe successful.
Seriously, how can any storage company succeed "without" Cloud technology in today's world? Hint... API is spelled A.P.I. Google it... Not very hard to understand.

    Pros

Family friendly, flexible, positive work environment

    Cons

    Their maternity leave needs work.

    Advice to Management

There are a few bad managers here and there - need a better feedback mechanism for them so they either be coached or even fired.

I worked at NetApp full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Folks are generally friendly. If leadership can turn the ship around, I do believe NetApp has great potential to revive. Great work/life balance.

    Cons

What was once an energetic and passion-filled company has turned for the worse. Unfortunately, the company still has a lot of catching up to do. Coupled with the annual layoffs, many employees are looking to move. Unfortunately, a lot of folks left are those who have "settled" with NetApp (for whatever reason - family, job stability, income stability, good work/life balance, visa).
