I have been working at Netcentric full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - among the few companies where feedback is not just welcome, but encouraged - holacracy system works most of the time (one of the benefits being you don't feel "bossed" around) - constantly seeking improvement in both company organisation and projects - work from home quite relaxed ("common sense" approach) - gym (co-sponsored) - parking (co-sponsored) - sailing event (co-sponsored) - private health insurance...

    Cons

    - the badge system keeps changing (for career advancement) which means that some people that already got some of the agreed badges must work extra to get the new mandatory ones - not enough bananas!

I have been working at Netcentric full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - the atmosphere is nice and the location is a big plus. The colleagues are open and take care of you from day one. - Holacracy is something I came across at Netcentric for the first time. I never thought a company could have an almost flat hierarchy and I really came to value this approach. *Not everything can be changed*, but at least each opinioin will be heared and evaluated before acting. - growth culture. I worked at Netcentric full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I'd say that the work environment is the best thing you'll find there and that's because most of the people are friendly and helpful, not to mention that the office looks pretty cool. The usual free coffee and tea are complemented with juice, biscuits and other snacks. The company supports and sponsors all kind of different events and team buildings. They have offices in different cities across Europe and you'll get...

    Cons

I would say that the technology stack is at least uncommon, they use the Adobe Marketing Cloud. In general, I think that AEM is a robust solution, however, its complexity may be found difficult at the beginning, especially for users who have never had any experience with such a tool before. The point is that AEM offers many features, and you will need some time to learn how to use them (still, I think that it’s normal...

I have been working at Netcentric full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Knowing the city, the location is nice. It is far away form the fuss and traffic of the standard places of doing business in Bucharest. There are some benefits that can be considered as a pro, and i will state them here just for reference, as they are for a long time the norm in the industry for Romania: gym discounts, free fruit, free coffee, free refreshments, work from home (used to be unlimited, now cut down to 10...

    Cons

There are several things that need to be dais here. Even though Holacracy is supposed to be practiced, the management system can be considered as being Communism. It is supposed to flatten down the management, have the power shared among all employees, and allow all to have a voice. This sound nice, but in reality there is a lot of shadow management being done. For the masses it is preached a good life, with all sharing...

    Advice to Management

As already mentioned, you should start to follow what you preach. One of the old Romanian sayings perfectly describes what you are doing: "do what the preacher says, not what the preacher does". This might go well in some places, but it does not go well in business where people are constantly searching for examples, leaders and mentors. Drop the shadow-management and micro-management and actually let people use the...

I have been working at Netcentric full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Location: Timpuri Noi, away from Pipera, in a modern office building. Work from home policy: unlimited, and most people use common sense and do not abuse it, which makes for a very relaxed work environment External events, trips, working from other offices, various fun events. Apple workstations, standing desks, great conferencing systems. Good communication and teamwork - most of the time. Mico bonus system - bonus.ly,...

    Cons

Has been bought by an Indian company and all that it implies: more and more Indian colleagues, badly trained, hard to work with. Moving slowly towards an outsourcing mentality (customer interviews at the lowest level, no trust, no company reputation). Low salaries on the Romanian market. Holacracy - sure, it can work, but faced with a 'customer is king' attitude, it leaves no room for actual voices to be heard. Internal...

    Advice to Management

Don't sell this company for something else than it is - you are an outsourcing company, you treat employees like resources, you have strong ties to India and people tend to avoid this, but wrap it nicely with events, fun, and games, to make it seems something that it no longer is. Value your people and their opinions, struggle to find them positions that fit their skills, and remember that the little things count. Such...

I have been working at Netcentric full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The team is nice and friendly. There are a lot of company events organized. You really like to go to work. Everything is quite transparently communicated and you can participate in circles to decide about changes within the company (holacracy). Also a lot of goodies like fruits, cerials, once a month a paid lunch together and so on. Super flexible hours and work from home policy!

    Cons

So far I‘d say the only disadvantage is the salary of juniors and the small difference of salary when changing from trainee to junior developer. The badge system to achieve a higher level means usually extra work besides your usual daily project work.

    Pros

    - DevOps technology stack is the norm, there is no place for manual tasks in performing operational tasks. Quite well automated, rather solid solutions. - they are open to working from home occasionally.

    Cons

    - Credential management for access inside the company or towards customer's data center is awful : shared accounts, user and passwords flying around over slack channels with tens of employees in it. Advice to Management

If Bucharest management would treat Swiss or German employees the same way they treat the Bucharest ones, well, some law-suites will appear. Motivation is more than throwing petty rewards at people. Hire real professional managers rather than most of the amateurs who's only attribute is "being here at the beginning". Set up induction and training plans, especially for newcomers.
