I have been working at Netflix full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, the pay is good, I can go to work in pajamas, the work is beyond simple. I appreciate the transparency about the attendance policy, you either go to work or kick rocks.

    Cons

I sincerely dread going to work. In training everything is fun and your told numbers don't matter. In real life, numbers really matter. My first week on the phone I was pulled off the phone to "coach" my behavior. The manager told me he was concerned about my performance in a unique way.

It is literally call after call after call. I understand that is what I signed up for, but the use of after call work is not allowed and honestly here and there it's nice to just take a breather.

The system in place to ask a question is absurd. In lieu of explaining a situation to a senior representative, you chat while the customer is just waiting on the phone. It's really not efficient.

It's literally 8 hours of the same phone call "my Netflix doesn't work" and me giving the same response. I am bored as sin!

They are very transparent that you shouldn't expect a promotion for a significant amount of time.

    Advice to Management

Fix the escalation process, it's really backwards. Also, be consistent enforcing the attendance policy. Six sick days a year is insane, even for high performers. But thanks for the transparency from the get.

I have been working at Netflix full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great work environment. Great benefits. No pressure to adhere to a script to research and solve problems. Still a call center.

    Cons

Very fast paced. Need to be able to adapt to changing work flows. 24/7 department in TSR so nights and weekends are at work.

    Advice to Management

    Be more flexible with scheduling.

I have been working at Netflix full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    High pay, freedom and responsibility.

    Cons

Everything else. If you want to work 90 hours a week, have no family life, and still get fired after nothing but glowing reviews, then this place is for you! In my case, I gave direct, actionable feedback about a colleague, and that led to my dismissal. The culture deck says feedback is never used to retaliate - but that's not true at all. So fair warning - if you give someone honest feedback about how to improve in their position, be prepared for that to bite you later on. Politics is real here - people are retained or promoted based on who they know, and people are so routinely fired here, regardless of their performance, that everyone is numb to it.
Glad to see my time here coming to an end. If you like playing dirty politics at work, then you've found a good place. If you want psychological safety at work, keep moving.

    Advice to Management

    Don't fire excellent people.

I have been working at Netflix full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people are the reason I joined Netflix and continue to enjoy my job every day. The culture is true when it says Netflix hires stunning colleagues.

I am empowered to make decisions without manager approval. Unlike other companies I have worked for, Netflix trusts that the employees are using good judgement to make the best decisions for the company. (No hiring committee or CEO approval to hire)

Your job is as big as you make it. If you see an opportunity for impact you don't need to ask permission, make it happen.

    Cons

It takes time find and hire stunning colleagues so roles often go unfilled for longer than desired

I have been working at Netflix (Less than a year)

    Pros

Bold culture statement, tons of fun problems to solve, high engagement and buy in on data science throughout the company.

    Cons

People incorrectly feel there's a culture of firing when they first start to work here. Turns out employee turnover is at our below industry levels.

    Advice to Management

Never be afraid to radically alter the organization to adapt to changing environments, regardless of size.
