I have been working at Netflix as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazing culture, not micro managing, awesome employees, free lunches, they let you watch movies and TV shows at work! (as long as it doesn't disrupt your work flow), and it pays well.

    Cons

There's no central design hub, so you're mostly getting work through a ticketing system. Passed down by people who aren't designers and sometimes (not often) have difficulties expressing their needs in terms that specific for designers. Also, getting full time employment is very difficult. Lots of turn around with new employees. You're considered an old timer after a year or so.

    Advice to Management

Don't fall back on the culture too much. It can be repetitive. Also, maybe more interaction between the design teams!

I worked at Netflix as a contractor

    Pros

The company is very tech-forward. Also everyone is pushed to be on top of their game (which meshes with the culture deck). All the initiatives are ambitious and aggressive in a good way.

    Cons

It seems there are a good number of persons in positions of power and influence making key decisions without having and/or soliciting or gathering requisite knowledge to make the best choices.

    Advice to Management

Encourage upper management to solicit more expertise and direct experience when hiring for the roles and functions for new initiatives.

    Pros

There's no doubt that you'd be hard pressed to find a different job where you can have as much impact. Pay is amazing, growth of pay is excellent too. The culture isn't just a deck, it is preached and practiced for the most part.

    Cons

If you work hard you'll grow your role, but you may not grow your title. Some people have been there increasing their scope for years with no title bump. Pay is != title at Netflix

    Advice to Management

It's understandable wanting to keep a flat organization, but having managers report to managers, directors to directors, VP's to VP's is not flat. Work on true succession planning, and invest in the career growth of those proving their value. Not just in pay, but personal growth as well.

I worked at Netflix full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They give a lot of offers for OT, and some of the people you work with are cool.

    Cons

No room for growth, people who can make decisions go off favoritism and they run a tight ship like a prison. write ups for any little thing, they do shift bids every 3/6 months leaving no room for a stable work/personal life balance. They have no care for your personal needs on scheduling, its you get what you get depending on stats, attendance etc. But even if those things are good you could very well still get stuck with a crummy shift. Very high turnover.

    No micro-management, stress-free, good pay.

    Advice to Management

User experience should be taken more seriously if you plan on taking over the globe.

I have been working at Netflix full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The culture is very much what you see in the slide deck. Mostly smart and considerate coworkers. Netflix is very generous to employees.
You get cheap trinkets every time there is a milestone.

    Cons

There are actually a few incompetent and rude people that get in the door. Usually they don't stick around. If you work on a problem that can't be a/b tested, it can be hard to get traction for new ideas.

    Advice to Management

I bet they regret getting rid of a great chief talent officer. Other than that they are golden.

I worked at Netflix (More than a year)

    Pros

Working at Netflix feels a little like working at a startup. You are given a lot of freedom, depending on where you work, to improve things as you see them. There is a free snack bar and fridges full of drinks on all floors and buildings, if thats important to you. Very laid back on what time you come and go, as long as it doesn't impact your results, and they will not tolerate brilliant people around if they are jerks also. Socially you will make a lot of new friends and dont be surprised if they ask you to join outside of work for weekend BBQs etc.

    Cons

Being results and data driven, sometimes causes higherups to try different strategies and they will often change their minds and direction. This leads to inefficiencies and frustrations.
While they officially have a "take as long vacation as you like" policy, some people were let go a few weeks after coming back from taking their first vacation in years.
