Great Company, Wonderful Location, Friendly Culture
Mar 22, 2016 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Growing company under the ownership of multi-national parent company (TSYS). Headquartered in downtown Austin and one of the cities largest downtown employers. The company is focused in the payments industry and a leader. Always great to work at a company that is growing and has wise and fun people. The culture is very friendly and retention is high.
Cons
- One of the few technology companies to not have a competitive maternity/paternity policy. It is very poor and not supporting of families and moreover moms. - Additionally the company, in general, does not support flex hours or work from home. It does vary slightly by manager and team.

Bad first impression
Jan 12, 2017 - Anonymous Employee in Austin, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
My coworkers were great as were the people in other departments I interacted with. The perks weren't bad they have an office downtown.
Cons
HR and management was unorganized, providing incorrect information about position and expectations. Also there was a lack of support and miscommunication about expectations for the role.

Extremely difficult and political environment, but great place for skills development.
Jul 31, 2019 - Project Manager in Austin, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Most of the people are great and are willing to help. Decent benefits and PTO, 5% 401K match, and maternity leave just got better - I think 8 weeks at 100%.
Cons
Very political environment Not much room for growth Lacks cultural diversity and cultural understanding Leadership needs work Blame cultural (mistakes not acceptable) Documentation of processes does not exist

Was great place to work until the hyenas bought it
Sep 25, 2020 - Systems Administrator in Austin, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great people working there and I was part of a superb group.
Cons
The company was bought by a pack of hyenas, aka Global Payments, that took a machete to the place. Netspend itself shows absolutely ZERO leadership on any level, from top to bottom. Companies that don't do anything wrong don't pay out $80M settlements to the FTC. This is and has always been a shady-ass business model.

Great place to work!
Jun 16, 2014 - Anonymous Employee in Austin, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
NetSpend is a great place to work. I've been here for a little over four years in a few different positions. The company is continuing to grow so there is a lot of opportunity to move around and grow with the company. Some of the many perks include: - flexible schedule, work/life balance - wellness program with competitions and on-site classes that promote health/fitness - great people
Cons
Pay could be better. However, this varies by your position. I came in at a somewhat entry level position and have worked my way up. For employees that move around within the company, the pay increases aren't always great. It’s unfortunate that I feel like I may need to leave the company to get fairly compensated for my current experience and role. This may not be an issue if you come in from the outside at a higher level.

Great company to work for!
Sep 1, 2017 - Web & Mobile Architect in Austin, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The company is great and the management recognizes people who think outside of the box. Company actually listens to employees and reacts accordingly.
Cons
Legacy software stack is a bit of a bear and is difficult to navigate around, but management realizes this and is working (albeit slowly) to rectify this issue.
