As an engineering intern, no engineering work was performed, despite being informed otherwise prior to accepting the internship. Almost all of the internship for the engineering interns were spend using AutoCAD.

I worked at Network Building + Consulting full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

To sum everything up, this place is great! I enjoyed working for this company and I am thankful for the opportunity they had given me. It really jumped started my career and I got to accomplish a lot in a short time. The work culture is very professional while at the same time a very laid back, family oriented work environment. People are friendly and are always willing to help. Leadership is top notch. They have years of experience behind them and they all work very hard. None of them are micro-managers, employees are given a lot of autonomy over their own work. They really pay attention to your needs and career goals. I had the pleasure of working under Dan Rieth, who I can honestly say helped me reach my full potential. The office itself is hip and attractive, with an awesome break room. Work attire is business casual. Benefits are fair... it includes 401k, medical, dental, PTO, and holidays. Telework is given. There are a lot of corporate events, mostly geared to employee appreciation in the form of baseball games, a cinco de mayo party , Christmas party, etc. Overall, if you work hard and stay motivated, you'll succeed and have a chance to make a real impact as the company is still growing.

    Cons

There are a lot meeting... too many meetings. Their meetings for each major project can be hours long. The time can be reduced and done waaay more efficiently than it was while I was there.

Processes, policies, and project documentation are still a working progress, but that leaves plenty of opportunity to create them yourself.

I've ran into a few employees that spent a lot of time trying to protect their jobs versus collaborating, taking suggestions, trying to find new solutions, and make real improvements... *cough SharePoint team cough*

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to individual workload. Employees do not need to work at "90-100%" capacity, if that is the metric that is being used. Some employees are overworked so if you need to hire more, get a mod on a contract and put more butts in seats.

On one final note, don't pay attention to the last review. That person was lazy. *Mic drop*

    Pros

    Great People that mean well

    Cons

It seems management at the "C" level is confused about what the employees need. If employees are the #1 asset... think about how decisions will impact morale...

    Advice to Management

Managers should actually know what they are managing, don't just throw people in positions for appearance of having it all figured out.
