I worked at Neuberger Berman full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people. Benefits are on par for the industry. Solid bonus compensates for below average salary.

    Cons

Very little opportunity for advancement. Permission from your current supervisor is required before you are allowed to apply for an open position which is problematic for 2 reasons:

    1) It's pretty awkward.
    2) Manager's tend to be possessive/selfish and they often view it as an inconvenience.

    Advice to Management

Managers should be required to conduct REGULAR performance reviews, not just annually. An employee should never be surprised by their review.

I worked at Neuberger Berman full-time

    Pros

Private - no quarterly rush to window dress results - good people on front lines

    Cons

PMs and analysts love place - treated differently. All else - well not so hot. Loves to claim it is top workplace ... yes if you're making more than 1M. Otherwise much MUCH better places to work.

    Advice to Management

Stop spending on stupid things (what that building cost) - start treating employees who don't run money with a bit more respect. Look to C suite - your problems start there
