    Pros

    Management has passion for the business. Most had many years of solid industry experience. Current management team in place for number of years.

    Cons

    Sales organization lacked cohesive and consistent strategy. Growth has come from market appreciation and less from positive asset inflows. International expansion has been disappointing.

    Advice to Management

    Look beyond what competitors are doing. More innovation.

    independent asset management firm focused on helping clients meet their unique investment objectives; strong investment culture; relatively flat organizational structure

    Cons

    some change to the overall culture, leading to a more corporate feel versus the prior partnership feel; investment results challenged in the market environment post-2008

    Pros

    worked there for 10 years, the first 8 were great. the culture, the people and the process were all amazing

    Cons

    culture shift about 2 years to be more investment banking like and less entrepreneurial

    Advice to Management

    should put a higher value on people and the work they do rather than balance sheet watch

    There is always work so you be busy all day long

    They don't recognize hard work in people.

    If you want to keep talented people around pay them well and give them the title they deserve

    Changing management is changing the culture of the day to day and the way senior employees interact with junior ones.

    Pros

    Good talent and knowledgeable staff to work with and great benefits

    Cons

    The pool of talent is leaving the Firm at a rapid clip due to poor management, particularly, IT.
    Low morale. Lack of acknowledgement on the part of senior management that this is a serious issue that one day will impact clients.

    Advice to Management

    Change is good but who executes change matters. What works in one firm may not work in another.

    My department was underutilized, stagnant, underresourced, and mostly everyone was pissed and demoralized and sometimes rude to clients

    Treat the back office better
    Create more in-house competition for advancement
