    Pros

Great environment to work at, not stressful at all. Good benefits, great people and very good work-family balance.

I have been working at New Balance full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Overall great company.
    Great benefit package.
    Great products.
    Proud to work here.

    Cons

Lack of Leadership vision. Just keep bringing in associates that we don't need over last 8 yrs. Doubled staff but business growth did not warrant it. Now people walking around doing nothing all day.
Leadership has very little regard for long term associates and the contributions that they have made and continue to make.
Benefits are being cut and becoming more costly to associates.
Push life/work balance as benefit... until you try to utilize it. It's only for the chosen few.

    Advice to Management

Company core values are: Teamwork/Integrity/Total Customer Satisfaction... walk the walk.
Have more respect for long term associates and their abilities. They, along with the owners are the ones who made this company what it is (was...).

    * Learn a lot about footwear and how its made, etc
    * Relaxed environment
    * Good pay for engineering interns

    Cons

    * Can be boring, like any job
    * Certain portions of the company were over-worked and under-resourced

I have been working at New Balance full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Schedule flexibility, happy culture, fun place to work for the most part. Many people stay for a long time.

    Cons

Many people stay for a long time, and become comfortable in their positions. This makes it very hard to move up and around. They have a set block of people who stay, while younger energetic people tend to have short stints, get frustrated by lack of mobility, and move out.

    Advice to Management

It takes money to make money. Invest in building the foundation of the company instead of hiring more sales people. There is a lot of work to be done systems-wise before the company can handle increased demand for product.

I worked at New Balance full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Casual work environment. Most people were friendly. Benefits were pretty good.

    Cons

It wasn't what you knew, it was who you knew. When trying to climb the corporate ladder, having the right person/manager on your side carried more weight than your actual job performance. Raises received were practically the same person to person no matter if you worked harder than your peers. Promotions took quite some time to achieve. Salaries could be higher like the competition offers.

    Advice to Management

Reward the employees for their hard work and good job performance, not for their popularity or brown-nosing. Reward your loyal employees over the ones who leave NB and years later decide to come back to NB again after going to work for a competitor. Give better raises and promotions in a timely manner - when they are deserved!
