I worked at New England Motor Freight part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good people to work with, relatively easy hours and job.

    Cons

Pay not so great as compared to the other trucking outfits in the area.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your workers and supervisors, they know more about how to run a shift than you do while sitting in your office.

I worked at New England Motor Freight full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Plenty of work and overtime

    Cons

I worked 15 years as a P&D driver and was fired for steeling 15 minutes that was fabricated on a day I did 20 stops also that same day another driver of 15 years who was 65 was fired for the same thing. It killed him after three years of fighting for his job back!

    Advice to Management

Go with driver for a week

I worked at New England Motor Freight part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

None, I wish I would have left earlier than I did. If you have other option job wise take them.

    Cons

Paid less than any other dock I have EVER worked on and they still wanted to screw you over on how many hours you worked. As a part-time dockworker I was lucky to work maybe 20 hrs a week. 75% of the inbound freight received was either badly damaged or incorrectly manifested. The management they hire is usually terminated from other companies or is too dumb to earn the position at their current company, so they came to us. They have very little knowledge on what's going on. Union drivers run the place. For example you can have every truck loaded according to manifest before drivers arrive and they will all tell you to reload it their way because they like to milk the clock on and off road. They'll tell management they'll call their union rep if management ever argues with them. Drivers are badly paid too. Luckily this place give you a forklift for entire shift but they're god awful, especially during winter.

    Advice to Management

Change everything. Either raise the pay rate or upgrade the equipment. Have much more discipline towards other terminals that send messed up freight. I shouldn't have had to reload the same trucks every day three times a day because the driver said so.

I have been working at New England Motor Freight (More than a year)

    Pros

Being able to get CDL though the company.

    Cons

Poor Management, always wanting more for less. Don't want to pay any money!!!!

    Advice to Management

Stop making people jump though hoops for a fulltime job when your pay scale is not up to par.

I have been working at New England Motor Freight full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Health benefits are pretty good. Pension is ok but you have to spend 20 unsafe years to get it. Don't work here

    Cons

Management doesn't care about safety equipment is old and run down. Constantly changing your start time and the union you have to join is a joke. Company constantly lies to customers

    Advice to Management

Respect your drivers before you know it you won't find quality drivers to work for you

I have been working at New England Motor Freight full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some great people to work with there. Sometimes the work is really easy.

    Cons

The pay isn't as high as most ltl companies it competes with. Slip seating annoying and some of their trucks are really outdated. Being asked to work out of other terminals is also a pain.

    Advice to Management

Dispatch needs to coordinate with each other better.

I worked at New England Motor Freight full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Lots of work, laid back for the industry, they tend to take care of you if you're willing to do the work

    Cons

Some of the regional managers can be dictators and force the terminal managers to do things their way and not necessarily the best for the terminal

    Advice to Management

Drivers always talk about money, but respect goes a long long way. A driver can make due with the check but once you disrespect the drivers the morale will go down. All we want is a little respect and our fair wages
