Training is top of line and interactive. Support from management and the corporate office is outstanding. The transparent and obtainable career path is presented from the beginning. GREAT BENEFITS! Opportunity to travel.

Multiple interview processes may take too long for those who need to be employed quickly.

May 31, 2023 - Regional Sales Director in Spokane, WARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
This company is filled with leadership who are personally interested in your success. There are endless resources available to help you develop and the company is willing to financially invest in your growth.
Cons
If you’re not willing to work hard, you won’t get the most out of your experience with New Home Star

Pros
Consistently surrounded by people who will motivate you to be the very best version of yourself. Excellent and gradual career path that stretches you and grows you, with the right balance of time, teaching and stretching.
Cons
Long hours. This is not a traditional 9-5. In fact, if that's what you're looking for, this isn't for you. This job is hard work, late nights and early mornings, all the while provide while glove treatment and customer service to our builder partners and each other.

Pros
This company values its employees as real human beings. They live up to their value of providing the best possible careers for its people by having funds allocated for our individual education/personal and professional development, and we get to give back and volunteer. Very happy and laid back atmosphere where we work hard and have a lot of fun doing it and our managers are personable and kind people.
Cons
There can be moments of growing pains which can be expected. You need to be prepared to pivot sometimes if you work here. Salary is on the low side, but the benefits help even it out. Not the best place for someone only motivated by money.

Best Training and Overall Culture
May 7, 2023 - Community Sales ManagerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
New Home Star provides top notch training and additional resources to support and promote professional and personal growth. They have a clearly defined career path in which the sky is really the limit. The culture within the national company as well as the local divisions is caring and encouraging. I cannot say enough good things about this company. I am truly grateful to be part of such a wonderful organization.
Cons
The only con that I can really come up with, is that Saturday and Sunday are mandatory days for being in the office. However, I have found that schedule actually suits my lifestyle well. It's far easier to do grocery shopping, get a hair appointment or get an oil change during a weekday when you're off rather than on a Saturday or Sunday.

Best intentions, worst execution
May 17, 2023 - Regional Sales Manager in Spokane, WARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
A lot of available 'training' if you are brand new to selling.
Cons
Managers put in place mentors so they don't have to train new employees. Pay is below industry standard. Does not align well with builder partner No new systems in place to get paid out properly High turnover Lack of leadership competence Sales volume oriented vs customer experience No raise in 3 years. Base salary stays same unless you accept a new position which requires you to go through the NHS schooling program. Cult like environment. Rallies, videos, hymns. Unprofessional environment overall.

I wouldn't want to work anywhere else.
May 7, 2023 - in Columbus, OHRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
This is one of the best companies that I have ever worked for. The company culture starts at the top, with a CEO who has a heart for his people. Decisions are made with that in mind. I've been with NHS for a little over a year and opportunities to grow and develop my career are present and I am taking advantage of them.
Cons
I really don't have any challenges.

So far am loving my experience at New Home Star! An awesome culture within the division and also across the whole country. Very supportive management and an amazing place to grow your career.
Cons
Commissions do not get paid until the home closes which could be several months after contract.

The BEST company I've worked for
May 11, 2023 - Community Sales ManagerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Quality people, quality training and quality products. Laid back but very professional. Our Management values us as employees and makes us feel important. Benefits and Compensation are very great as well.
Cons
Cons for some people may include the travel time from community to community and the required weekend hours. However I do feel the sacrifice is more than worth it.
