I have been working at New Island Hospital full-time (More than a year)
Good camaraderie with coworkers in department
Director was very stubborn and inflexible. Night/weekend shifts assigned unfairly
Nice community Hospital. Workers really care about patients, quality, safety, and community. Decent staffing...usually.
Small hospital is like a small town...a little "incestuous". Much of the staff has been there 10-40 years
and really don't know what they have. For nursing, it's a really nice place to work. There's no "status" working for one of the last small hospitals, either--if you're into that kind of thing.
Advice to Management
Penny wise and pound foolish. The hospital WILL go down if you don't get smart.
