    Civilian vs. Enlisted

    Pros

I was employed for about 14 years as NJSP civilian/professional IT support personnel at their HQ. The division follows relatively fair and equal pay among civilian employment contracts. ( only difference during my time was civil service title or non-civil service title) Relatively no hassles from being 'pressured' by enlisted troopers to do something small or large _just_ for maintaining _their_ good standings.

    Cons

no promotional consideration if one was not keen at cultural clues/cards.

    Pros

Decent pay for dispatchers compared to similar positions at other departments. Work 12 hr. shifts with no more than 3 days in a row and every other weekend off. Six weeks training at hire. Some room for advancement.

    Cons

Atmosphere isn't always positive. Can be stressful on high radio traffic shifts.
