I worked at New London Public Schools (More than 3 years)
NLPS is on its way to becoming a beacon for education in SECT through its magnet schools
benefits are good
lack of developed leadership
low pay for non-admin positions
lack of opportunities for "climbing the ladder" in non-school buildings
I worked at New London Public Schools as an intern (Less than a year)
Hires new interns quite often
Pay is fine for entry-level
Unorganized IT department
Overly political environment
Extremely high turnover and low rate of job satisfaction from most employees dealt with
IT management constantly throwing fits of rage at the drop of a hat, and physically breaking items, screaming, and a hostile work environment
Advice to Management
Try a new career path, perhaps IT is not for you
got job right out of school, hired me without any experience. Good benefits, including insurance and pension
Kids behavior was problematic. Parents are not very involved. Lots of discipline problems getting in the way of actual teaching.
