I have been working at New Penn Motor Express part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    decent co-workers, management is ok

    Cons

too heavy workload, start late in afternoon. why not take it back to starting at 3 instead of 5? truckers come back so late because they start so late.

    Advice to Management

I have left a previous review. It is getting better, slowly. However, you need more people working in the office. It is not fair or healthy for just a few people to type that much, especially with them being underpaid.

I worked at New Penn Motor Express full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly drivers. Full benefits ( if you make it into the union before you get canned )

    Cons

Poor management, unqualified dispatch, LOW starting pay, poor pension fund.

    Advice to Management

None because they wouldn't accept it anyway. You start off as "casual" but they'll use and abuse you till you are of no use to them and your gone. All of a sudden the revenue will be "too low" for another driver.

I worked at New Penn Motor Express full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay. Thats about it. Not much else to say good about this company.

    Cons

Your kept in the dark the whole way. Everybody has an opinion but nobody knows anything. No training, unsafe practices. No respect for drivers. A dirty, underhanded culture. Good old boys do well but the rest of the guys get used up. No security. Be prepaired to look elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Be honest with your people. Let them know what to expect. Be upfront. Understand that driving a big truck is not easy. Do not hurry your people and force them to be unsafe. Fire your dispatchers!

I have been working at New Penn Motor Express part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Low supervision job and fixed hours. A routine work procedure on a daily basis. Part time for most positions in the company if that's what you are looking for. Good for a side job for a little bit of extra money aside from a primary income or to do while attending school.

    Cons

There is virtually no room to make it a career or advance in the company from this position. It literally fits the mold for a dead-end job. It's a very set pay rate and stays that way regardless of performance. The company offers nothing as far as benefits to this position.Very low morale, probably due to the low pay and absence of motivation or ability to move forward in the company.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees what they are worth and give them a reason to perform to their best of their ability. Low prices and satisfactory service for the customer is great but will decline as time goes by if you do not invest in your employees and compensate them for contributing to the company. Treating employees as individuals rather than confining them to a group would certainly bring more value to the company structure. Not everyone performs the same in each position so yearly reviews (and a raise based on performance) would go a long way.
