Pros
Good school culture, some very lovely people.
Cons
HR is outrageous. Very unfair and unprofessional practices that border on illegal employment practices. Not a place for any experienced teacher.
Advice to Management
Hire a great labor law attorney. You're gonna need it.

I have been working at New Visions for Public Schools full-time
Pros
If you are interested in supporting the improvement of education in NYC, New Visions provides a host of opportunities to work with an extremely smart and dedicated set of colleagues to help schools. The organization works in data systems, teacher development, curriculum, college readiness, community engagement, and more. It is a supportive place to work and there are lots of chances to learn from all of the new initiatives. Great colleagues. Good benefits and compensation for a non-profit.
Cons
Not necessarily a con, but something to know: the organization is fast-paced and things are always evolving based on the policy environment, grant opportunities, changes in the DOE, etc. Be ready to be nimble and don't get too attached to any one thing!
I have been working at New Visions for Public Schools full-time
Pros
Creativity and open ideas for curriculum
Cons
Long hours and that is pretty much it.
I worked at New Visions for Public Schools full-time (More than a year)
Pros
Teachers are wonderful -- hard working, make the job bearable.
Cons
Where do I start?
1) So much turnover in management that what was aces to your "supervisor" is often heresy to your "new supervisor."
2) Pointless paperwork. I can't count how many things teachers were told to do "for data" and those things ended up sitting in a cardboard box all year long before being thrown out.
3) NO ladder of consequences. A group of 5 or 10 misbehaving students run the school and run wild, and are coddled by admin until they do something serious.
4) Selling parents a bunch of lies about how many resources the schools have for special education, yet there's kids who need paras who don't have them, others need mandated counseling and never get it.
5) "COB today." Staff would get an email directive saying something pointless had to be done by "COB today." No explanation why, no communication, just had to be done. Staff stay late and do it, bring it upstairs to the supervisors, who have long since gone home for the day.
Advice to Management
Maybe, just maybe, if a slew of staff leave every year (whether voluntary or not), it's YOUR problem?

I have been working at New Visions for Public Schools full-time (More than a year)
Pros
NVPS is a great place to work towards an important mission and with some of the most passionate folks around. It functions like a start up but with the perks of a big company, which is a nice balance.
Cons
Fast growth and expansion means that some folks are in management positions when that is not their strongest suit. There is a sense of cliquishness among those who have been around longest vs those who are relatively new, which doesn't always contribute to the strongest environment.
Advice to Management
Help cultivate leadership and development for all employees.
I have been working at New Visions for Public Schools full-time (More than a year)
Pros
Amazing people, culture and spirit of innovation
Cons
Less competitive salary for developers/tech people as compared to industry standards. A ot of work outside of your role and not always a lot of recognition for it (salary-wise, announcement-wise, and title-wise)
Advice to Management
NV runs like a tech company in some aspects. Recognize that, hire foundational, experienced people, and pay people accordingly to avoid high turn-over. Also, recognize people's work with proper titles.
I have been working at New Visions for Public Schools full-time (More than a year)
Pros
The interaction and growth of the school culture
Cons
Very time consuming and learning to adapt to the schools culture
Advice to Management
Lets keep changing school culture for the better
