I have been working at New York City Department of Sanitation part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Can be easy in groups to shovel snow
    Easy money
Raises to 20 dollars an hour after 40+ hours a week

    Cons

Co-workers (You might work along jerks who are homeless, that was my experience. Also if you're young you tend to get treated as if you are a fool by them. The actually full time employees of the DOS treat you nicely though. Don't be too bothered by the other snow laborers. My suggestion is to work with friends if you have any)

    Advice to Management

Please pay attention to the other groups who aren't actually shoveling and not doing their jobs. We had a shoveling group was on the wrong route and was on ours and was telling us oh we didn't need to shovel this or that and to only shovel this much. The amount they told us to shovel barely left a good amount for people to cross the roads.
