I have been working at New York Life full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Right out of college, I had an opportunity with the New York Life. Being young I felt that I was at a disadvantage but I worked hard, I was relentless, and ambitious. My first full year, I was able to make a six-figure income. It wasn't easy but is medical school easy? Is law school easy? The training and development at New York Life was unmatched. I knew nothing about the Insurance and Financial Services industry until I was given an opportunity at New York Life and the training was exceptional and has led me to the success I have today.

    Cons

You have to work hard, be relentless, entrepreneurial, invest a lot of time and effort into the business and above all, expect a higher standard of living and strive towards that goal every single day.

I have been working at New York Life as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

The training is extensive. You're essentially an apprentice for three years, but you can earn as much as any of the established agents if you put in the work.

    Cons

None. They do all they can to help you succeed. If you aren't satisfied with the job, it's because you didn't put in the work.

I have been working at New York Life full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Exceptional training, great support staff, team oriented experience, monetary growth base on merit, diversity, upward mobility

    Cons

The transition from "employee" to business owner can be overwhelming.

    Advice to Management

Continue to put yourself in the shoes of the new agent and the transition from employee to business owner.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at New York Life as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

I personally have enjoyed my experience. I have sen offered a full time job once graduated and have already passed Health/Life exams as well as Series 6/63. Of course since it's a commission based job, you make what your effort is. Just as an intern I have already make considerable amounts of commission, you just have to look for the opportunities. They teach you what you need to know and in my program, pair you with an established agent to shadow and gain experience.

    Cons

Of course it douse take a little while sometime to start. Although the ball is rolling for me now, it did take about 3-4 months before things got more serious. However, I should note that I personally go after larger clients so naturally there will be less of those in general, and even less at the beginning (but the payoff is far worth it).

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

    Cons

You have to have work ethic and drive and not a blame others attitude.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at New York Life full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great support from management. Broken down understanding of policy and how to present to client is outstanding.

    Cons

Policy approval is lengthy. Money is given early but taken away when policy is declined. Hard for living wage.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work, more support on first 3 policies written to new advisors and some type of compensation, even when policies do not go through. Time and effort was given and should be compensated
