    Positive Outlook

I worked at New York Magazine for less than a year

    Pros

Lots of work to be done. Not a coffee-fetching position

    Cons

Not a lot of room to move up

    Advice to Management

    Nothing really

  2. "Traditional"

I have been working at New York Magazine

      Pros

The name, the stories, the people

      Cons

Traditional old-school publication environment— no snacks, the only thing that’s free is coffee. All cubicles, no collaboration— all communication via slack. Quiet workplace

        Doesn't Recommend
        Negative Outlook

I worked at New York Magazine for less than a year

        Pros

Location is not bad. Some brilliant people working there - could be good connections if you want to continue in the journalism field.

        Cons

Close to no regular perks for interns except the free coffee in the kitchen. Seasonally there would be some free tickets to events that nymag sponsored or something. I know it's like this for the industry, but nymag is not an exception with low pay but large amount of work.

I have been working at New York Magazine

        Pros

It's a great place to learn the ropes.

        Cons

But don't expect much more than that; they just don't have the carrying capacity to hire interns.
