I worked at New York Medical College part-time for more than a year

Worked with world-class doctors and scientists on a variety of research projects aimed at improving human health by developing next generation therapies and treatments. Gained experience using a wide variety of experimental techniques.

    Cons

As a student in the graduate program compensation packages were basic.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.

I worked at New York Medical College full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Lots of holidays off, laid back environment, 9 to 5... Like mentioned above its a place to get a starter job to get whatever basic skills and to move on.

    Cons

Salaries are poor (little to no raises) , management poor to mediocre at best. I would say its a gathering ground for the complacent and just get by type of attitude that many (not all) have here. This place has a toxic environment type of feel if you stay to long. No career growth what's so ever (unless you want to hang around for 20 years). This certainly isn't the place you will master whatever skill you came out...

    Advice to Management

The place really needs to be gutted from the top down. Needs an injection of completely new life from administration and raise the bar for hiring and keeping talented people.

I have been working at New York Medical College full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

friendly and family based environment, many college holidays, good starting place for a fresh PhD.

      Cons

No career and salary growth, no chance to get a faculty position despite having PhD, PIs are not interested in your future career and growth, basically they treat you more like a qualified laborer. Lots of politics which is reflected in distributing intramural grants and positions. Good networking and connections needed to keep the position.

      Advice to Management

reduce administrative staff and invest more to young researchers and researchers with a potential to get funding. The college basically gain more by having these people rather than a lot of bureaucrats.
