    Pros

Good Salary, great benefits. After 22 1/2 years, you get a life pension worth 50% of your last year's salary or the best of your last 3 years. Do something different every day. Great chance at promotions and hundreds of different specialized units to work at.

    Cons

In the public eye 24/7. You are walking on egg shells your entire career. Sometimes bosses can be less then fair. Your life is on the line every time you put the uniform on. You will have to deal with hatred against the police even.

    Advice to Management

lighten up. be more understanding and approachable.

    Pros

You're not stuck at a desk. You're meeting new and interesting New Yorkers or tourist. People come to you for help and you can make a difference .

Leaders who set a bad tone and affect morale in a negative way. Having to deal with people at their worst. Stress of meeting monthly activity goals aka quotas and balancing family work life.

    Advice to Management

Don't micromanage. Set monthly activity goals that improve communities instead of getting numbers for numbers sake to fill the city's coffers. Get rid of officers who cause the city to lose money in litigations by their misconduct.
