    Central New York Psychiatric Center is an accredited hospital open since 1977. Excellent benefits available. Positions for clinicians across NYS in many areas.

    Pros

    salary increases, good benefits, pension is OK for newbies, nothing to brag about but at least you get vested after 10 yrs. If you are a good worker and have a good reputation for producing work that helps the system and being good at what you do, you can excel in your career within the OMH system..of course, as long as you have the academic credentials as well to meet those job req's.

    Cons

    civil jobs pay less than private

    Opportunities for advancement, many trainings available and great support from staff!

    Cons

    It might be helpful to hire more nurses and TA's to reduce burn out rate.

    Pros

    flexible schedule, people are nice, large data set hands-on experience

    Cons

    pay is low, paces are slow, hard to jump out of the health system

    Advice to Management

    it is already quite good and I do not see anything that needs improvement. The leaders are very responsible here.

    Pros

    My colleagues and bosses were mostly terrific human beings, and I enjoyed working with them. I worked at a very convenient location in Manhattan.

    Cons

    Much of the work was boring, tedious and not at all challenging. We had to travel to Albany for regular meetings.

    Represent the state of New York; help people; union representation

    Cons

    Many of those who end up in management don't seem to be the most qualified. It's more of a 'who you know' kind of thing once you get past the civil service entry level.

    Advice to Management

    Train new management. Many managers are hired from within, and although they may be good at the job, that doesn't mean they are good at training or managing people.
