I have been working at New York State Office of the Attorney General full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The benefits are great! Take full advantage of everything! Unless you have a BA it is difficult to move around for new titles with increased pay within state. You have to wait 2-3 years for new tests to arrive and be canvassed for new positions out of hundreds of other state employees.

    Cons

The pay is very low. I feel like I am starting from scratch with barely slightly higher than my very first job over 15 years ago.

I have been working at New York State Office of the Attorney General full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

innovative litigation opportunities, great work life balance, lots of great colleagues and work that has impact.

    Cons

the pay is low and management is very top down. it is often difficult to get answers on cases quickly and there is very little attention paid to aag development or internal advancement. If you are not politically connected, you will likely not get those opportunities. also terrible legal assistants and very little support staff.

    Advice to Management

give everyone chances to compete for advancement opportunities, fellowships. Also management should work harder to increase pay for aag's.
