I have been working at New York & Company full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Customers are amazing!
Discount is great as well as sales
    Vacation time
    Bonuses
    Easy pos and scheduling system

    Cons

CEO is a god in the company’s eyes and really just wants fame rather then a striving business and happy employees. Upper management use to be very supportive and understanding but recently a lot of new District managers have cane with a new regional and they do not care about anyone but themselves. Never even see the new managers in dress code. They rush through everything and expect the impossible to be complete without hours.
Last minute changes to the sales floor has become a weekly task sometimes multiple times a week requiring overnight shifts and early morning shifts with no additional payroll. However get upset when it’s not complete 100%
Uppermanagment won’t even look store manager in their eyes when they do surprise visits.
Company doesn’t give hours to onboard new associates yet expects each associate to get 1 credit per shift with no training.
High turn over rate . I’ve seen theee store managers leave the company in the past month and two district managers.
Daily promotional changes throughout the store with no additional hours
I’m expecting to see another two managers quit in the next two months . And it’s all corporates fault.
No pay increases this year for full time employees yet just brought on a celebrity endorsement for 4million contract and bought a new company

    Advice to Management

Get it together customers are tired of seeing new faces in the stores monthly. They notice the change
Appricate your managers especially the once who’ve been here for 10 plus years enduring the mistrust of headquarters

I worked at New York & Company part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The discounts are the only pros I can think of.

    Cons

The company always pushes for credit cards to be opened by multiple new customers every day. This makes the managers always stay on top of you and it gets stressful. You can't make people get a credit card if they don't want one.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees equally. Also speak the language everyone speaks, don't speak in Spanish to speak badly about other employees in front of them and make it obvious, it's unprofessional and rude.

they push feeling credit cards way to harshly. they give bonuses of 1 dollar for every credit card but it was difficult some days and they would be very strict on days that no cards were sold.

    Advice to Management

consider that we are trying our best

    Pros

Laura and Cecilia were my managers. They were so sweet and patient with me. Pretty flexible hours. Super nice.

    Cons

We did more physical work than I expected. Too much for the little pay. Had to sell a credit card with a super high interest rate. The card is only good for people who shopped there every week and the people who did already had the card. I just couldn't bring myself to sell something that is t worth having in general. The pay sucks.

    Advice to Management

Idk management was OK. Just a few things that they couldn't change he bugged me.
