I have been working at New York & Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good pay time out. Great discount.

    Cons

Unrealistic expectations. You will have to push credit card and sales associates schedule is based on how much credits they have. Promos changes every day. Floor set change olmos every week. Terrible schedule. You have to move heavy tables, constructed walls, update windows and more with no enough coverage or hours! Every day!

    Advice to Management

    Appreciate more your employees!

I have been working at New York & Company full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Customers are amazing! Discount is great as well as sales Vacation time Bonuses Easy pos and scheduling system

    Cons

CEO is a god in the company’s eyes and really just wants fame rather then a striving business and happy employees. Upper management use to be very supportive and understanding but recently a lot of new District managers have cane with a new regional and they do not care about anyone but themselves. Never even see the new managers in dress code. They rush through everything and expect the impossible to be complete... without hours. Last minute changes to the sales floor has become a weekly task sometimes multiple times a week requiring overnight shifts and early morning shifts with no additional payroll. However get upset when it’s not complete 100% Uppermanagment won’t even look store manager in their eyes when they do surprise visits. Company doesn’t give hours to onboard new associates yet expects each associate to get 1 credit per shift with no training. High turn over rate . I’ve seen theee store managers leave the company in the past month and two district managers. Daily promotional changes throughout the store with no additional hours I’m expecting to see another two managers quit in the next two months . And it’s all corporates fault. No pay increases this year for full time employees yet just brought on a celebrity endorsement for 4million contract and bought a new company

    Advice to Management

Get it together customers are tired of seeing new faces in the stores monthly. They notice the change Appricate your managers especially the once who’ve been here for 10 plus years enduring the mistrust of headquarters

I have been working at New York & Company full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great discount on fashionable clothes. Great group of women to work with,

    Cons

Reduction in payroll hours keeps associates and managers from doing their best job. Really hard to help customers with the amount of tasks to complete everyday. Everything is focused on getting customers to open the store credit card. Sales are down and there is a pay freeze.

    Advice to Management

HQ needs to focus less on audits, daily paperwork, daily marketing changes. There should be payroll for training new sales associates and better starting wages otherwise the turnover will continue to be high.

I worked at New York & Company full-time for less than a year

    Pros

40% Discount, Great Medical/Dental Benefits, Great Brand

    Cons

Minimal work/life balance. SMs work 50-60 hrs/week with minimal payroll hours for employees. SMs and AMs operate the store 70% of the time. High employee turnover, both management and associates. Tasking is unorganized and extremely time-consuming.

    Advice to Management

Corporate needs to revisit daily tasking operations in an effort be a more efficient, effective operational retail business.
