I worked at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Stable organization, high job security, good benefits, not very stressful.

    Cons

At least in administrative areas, there is a wide range of employees' motivation and competence levels. Bureaucratic organization. Difficult to move around the organization, as positions are often posted - and interviews given - as a formality, since the hiring manager already knows who they will hire. Low levels of incentive compensation.

    Advice to Management

Find ways to reward - and hence retain - competent employees.

    Cons

Too much politics and no professional advancements. Backstabbing, management create hostile work place. Families members in a company. Union Organiser not so great. No help for parking space.

    Advice to Management

    Not friendly.

    Pros

Benefits are amazing. You'll never find benefits this good at another job. People are cool to work with. Overall more laid back culture than you'd find at a profit hungry company. Also a gigantic hospital with endless opportunities. Largest private employer in NYC.

    Cons

No glaring cons. Some people say pay. But when you factor in the benefits, the total compensation more than makes up for the still competitive wages in my opinion.

I have been working at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

NYP is a huge organization with multiple campuses and job opportunities, the compensation is on par with its competition and the work environment is professional.

    Cons

There is not a lot of room for upward growth, unionized job positions create lower compensation rates, the cost of living in NY is extremely high

    Advice to Management

Management should offer some form of recognition incentive program for employees in which employees could be recognized for good, hard work considering there are no bonuses.
