RecommendsPositive OutlookI worked at Newark USD full-time for more than a year
Pros
It was a great learning experience. Being a teacher is very rewarding and you learn a lot about the community you serve. Vacation time for a teacher is like our "bonus". My colleagues were very nice.
Cons
The school I was at was in a very tough neighborhood and trying to get most parents more involved was a challenge. Teaching pay is also very low and should be higher. There are also no health benefits and can get very expensive for an individual plan
