I worked at Newfield Exploration full-time

    Pros

Empowerment if under the right leadership. Pay/Salary/Bonuses (since the changes in 2012) were based on contribution instead of gender or who you knew

    Cons

Senior Leadership seems to live in another world. Often they seem disjointed, with unrealistic requests, and can be condescending. CEO loves his own monologues... which might be an hour straight of him talking about himself. He is talented, but lacks on the people skills

I worked at Newfield Exploration full-time

    Pros

Some of the people are the best part about of the company

    Cons

Most of the people cause too many office politics

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the lower tier of people, the reason that they are in management is to be leaders and lead

I have been working at Newfield Exploration full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Newfield is a really great company. The leadership is smart, down to earth and does a great job of mentoring employees. The company is leading the industry with its operations in Oklahoma and much of its operational activity is considered top-tier. They offer "Cadillac" benefits including insurance, compensation, bonus and 401K.

    Cons

Leadership often gives employees who are not performing up to par the benefit of the doubt -- and sometimes it goes on way too long.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work operationally. You have great people and the culture is uniquely Newfield. Not everyone fits into that culture. When they don't, cut your losses and ask them to move on -- for the benefit of the company and your people.

I have been working at Newfield Exploration full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great pay and benefits
    Generous PTO
Good company for those that aren't afraid to blow their own horn and are politically savvy.

    Cons

Highly political. Lots of personality politics
Feeling of highly skilled staff not taken care off properly
Little advancement opportunities. I see a lot of cronyism in who gets leadership positions
Lots of work, not enough people.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to real achievers and less to those who can 'walk the talk'
Do a better of measuring competencies and taking an interest in employs and their career aspirations. Telling folk 'be glad you are picking up skills just in case you leave' is dispiriting and saps loyalty.

    Pros

Leadership encourages team to think our the box. Every position is important to the team. Excellent benefits and generous piad time off.

    Cons

Very pro extrovert environment; the less extroverted employee, though talented, could end up pigeonholed if they do not actively promote themselves and their successes.
