I have been working at Newmont Goldcorp

    Pros

    - 9-80 Work Schedule - 4+ weeks vacation on year one - inexpensive benefits - 20%+ annual bonus potential (10% individual performance and 10% company performance) - strong 401K - great people - lots of personal growth opportunities (lunch n learns, town hall meetings, online training, in-house training, tuition reimbursement, etc)

    Cons

    - long hours - no maternity leave (need to use PTO or go unpaided) - lots of gaps inbetween the ST and LT Disability benefits when you are in the first couple of years of employment

    Advice to Management

Continue to empower your employees as Newmont grows. Don't get away from the family feel from years ago, for most employees enjoyed that aspect of the company.

    Approves of CEO

I have been working at Newmont Goldcorp full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Newmont has competitive benefits, employees are professional, good salary

    Cons

Managers are lacking in basic skills, it's not what you know but who you know in order for promotion and succession. They say they are progressive but it takes a long time to make any significant changes.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and act upon what you say. Work with your employees to see them successfully grow. Be their advocates and support their professional needs.

I worked at Newmont Goldcorp full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Newmont has good benefits, they also have flexible work life balance depending on what department you might work in

    Cons

It's hard to move around or move up in the organization. There are a lot of glass ceilings. It's dependent upon your manager if you are able to move around or become promoted.

    Advice to Management

Promote from within. There's a lot of wonderful talent who know the industry, which is overlooked and a very important part of the job is to know and understand gold mining.

      I worked at Newmont Goldcorp

      Pros

Great team, great pay and benefits. Invested in current technologies.

      Cons

Political hierarchy. Minimal advancement opportunities. Second time in seven years they have outsourced. First time was a mistake and this time does not appear to be shaping up any better.

      Advice to Management

Management should be ashamed. They sacrificed great talent in lieu of inferior talent in an attempt to save money while giving the left over personnel promotions and bonuses.

I worked at Newmont Goldcorp full-time for more than a year

      Pros

The team I worked with was top notch and the pay and benefits were above average.

      Cons

Company sees IT as a necessary evil and decided to outsource all of it to India. This is the second time in 5 years they have done this. First time was a disaster and the second time doesn't look to be any better.

      Advice to Management

Care about ALL employees and recognize IT as an integral part of mining, not something to let unqualified people handle.

I have been working at Newmont Goldcorp full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Compensation and bonuses were great. You could always count on leadership setting up easy targets to exceed 100 percent bonus; they really know how to line their pockets ...and those employees that still work there....all while they take the company apart piece by piece.

      Cons

Since inception of SAP and new leadership in the last few years, Newmont was no longer a great place to work. For the last three years, semi-annual lay-offs, with more to come. No one is safe, except top executives and senior leaders.

      Advice to Management

Stop keeping laying off the people doiing the work and get rid of senior leadership that are making the decisions. Stop trying to bring all Rio Tinto employees on board.

I have been working at Newmont Goldcorp full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Benefit package for USA domestic post is unbeatable. Great location for a corporate headquarters.

      Cons

Stressful work environment. Most competent people are not promoted. High performers are not rewarded.

      Advice to Management

This company has some of the best people in the business, but the company does not do enough to hold on to its best assets.
