I have been working at Newmont Goldcorp full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Newmont has competitive benefits, employees are professional, good salary

    Cons

Managers are lacking in basic skills, it's not what you know but who you know in order for promotion and succession. They say they are progressive but it takes a long time to make any significant changes.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and act upon what you say. Work with your employees to see them successfully grow. Be their advocates and support their professional needs.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Newmont Goldcorp full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Peers and select managers are great to work with. Strong focus on safety. CEO has a solid vision and is effectively steering company from operational perspective. Lots of potential as exploration is going strong.

    Cons

Mine Operations pretty good to work for. Finance & Planning not as good - the hours are long and recognition can be lacking. Regional offices and corporate (HQ) very political. Advancement is contingent on who you know. To bring you on board, Recruiting may tout many benefits but many of these benefits you may never realize, such as vesting in benefit plans. Males seem to be discriminated against in the interest of diversity...

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Newmont Goldcorp part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great benefits; Opportunities to advance, regardless of experience or qualifications; Working towards a more diverse workfield; Great if you are female trying to apply right now. Union! Do nothing and still get paid without the fear of being let go!

    Cons

Not so good if you are male trying to apply, as they seem to be discriminating against male applicants in the process of evening out the labor force. (Sure, it's a little male dominated, but maybe there are just more males who want the job.)

    Advice to Management

You may want to reconsider your HR recruiting staff. Everyone knows maintenance has been shorthanded for years and the mechanics are overwhelmed with badgering supervisors and top heavy upper management that can't see past the numbers.

I worked at Newmont Goldcorp full-time

    Pros

Great compensation and benefits, great co-workers, very effective CEO Working for a highly respected company in the industry

    Cons

Not learning from past mistakes; implement a major internal project based on the direction of a new Senior Manager without learning why the same project failed in the past. Hopefully this has improved.

I have been working at Newmont Goldcorp for more than 3 years

      Pros

Good coworkers, managers, opportunity to grow, they give you opportunities to learn more rather than pigeonhole you and forget about you

      Cons

Not really any, the commute can be long but that is typical of mining so I really can't fault Newmont with that.

      Advice to Management

Keep growing the company and its assets
