I have been working at Newmont Goldcorp full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Pay and benefits are very good. Good work schedule as far as time off goes. The company loves to give back and be involved in the community. Most coworkers are great people. Training is available and it is paid but it is usually done as an overtime shift.

    Cons

Night shift can be tough to get through, If you are the low man on the ladder, it doesn't matter how many years experience you have, you will be doing work that correlates to your standing among coworkers. Low morale. Excessive safety rules make it even harder to do the work. Not much time to do training unless it is on your own time. Very hard to schedule time off due to one-person-off-at-a-time rules.

    Advice to Management

Separate Carlin and Emigrant. Carlin is running 4 times the equipment than all the other Nevada mines under Newmont but has basically a skeleton crew. It is believed the maintenance group is overstaffed but in reality the combining of two mines makes it look that way. If people need to call off shift or take vacation time, it hurts the equipment availability. There needs to be dedicated positions for lube truck, field...

I worked at Newmont Goldcorp full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Good pay and benefits. Interesting work.

      Cons

Safety is something you'll hear about 50 times a day. Too bad it's all for show. Bring up legitimate safety concerns and you'll be held back from raises and promotions, as well as given the least desirable jobs. Keep trying to change the safety culture and they'll make up a reason to fire you. Management does whatever they want with no accountability, as does HR. Do as I say, not as I do.

      Advice to Management

Nothing will help them. They are determined to engage in substandard practices.

        Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

        I worked at Newmont Goldcorp

        Pros

Pay and benefits are good, coworkers are friendly. The company adapted well to the changing market conditions.

        Cons

The drive out to the mine site is long. There are too many managers and bosses in Denver.

        Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and let the people at the mines make decisions instead of some banker sitting in an office in Denver.

I worked at Newmont Goldcorp for more than a year

        Pros

Good pay, and benefits, was a great IT team

        Cons

Current ELT ruined the "employee first" concept that once made it a great place to work. New CEO came in about 1 year after I started and began the layoffs, from then on it happened about every 6 months just under a different corporate buzz word. The last one used was "Full potential" which outsourced all of Denver operations to India. Leadership does not care about the individual!

          I worked at Newmont Goldcorp

          Pros

Great team, great pay and benefits. Invested in current technologies.

          Cons

Political hierarchy. Minimal advancement opportunities. Second time in seven years they have outsourced. First time was a mistake and this time does not appear to be shaping up any better.

          Advice to Management

Management should be ashamed. They sacrificed great talent in lieu of inferior talent in an attempt to save money while giving the left over personnel promotions and bonuses.
