I worked at Newpark Resources full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Newpark in Denver is composed of some of the best minds in the industry when it comes to drilling fluids and strategic wellbore planning. It felt like a family while maintaining a high level of corporate professionalism. Unlike some other companies where I knew I was just a number, the experience was the antitheses of that at Newpark.

    Cons

Since the company is a bit smaller than some of the major league players, the availability of training schools was limited. The opportunities for global travel as an expat was also lessened by this smaller global footprint. I would recommend Newpark to employees that prefer comfort in the locality of business. I eventually left the company because of these global opportunities with a larger, "redder", company.

    Advice to Management

Be more aggressive with buying up subsidiaries and expanding. Your overall business strategy is good in that you recognize the value of your employees. These employees are the fractal elements of the brand itself and the backbone of the company. You already have down the excellent treatment of your backbone, I would invest in recession proof portions of the industry, and open a few offices that specialize in a broader...

I have been working at Newpark Resources full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Benefits on day one, decent vacation bank at starting, salary is average.

    Cons

The division I work for was acquired by Newpark late last year and it has been a nightmare since. Management is a joke, they do what they want. No one has ever showed me any policies, high amount of favoritism among the "Good Old Boy Network", very little chance for advancement, unfair treatment, overall just a very unprofessional environment to be in.

    Advice to Management

You need to take a look at your management team and see how they operate this business, it is sad as we heard all of these great things about Newpark when they acquired us but have yet to experience any of it, they seem to want nothing to do with this division and when we reach out we get no support.

I have been working at Newpark Resources full-time

    Pros

Benifits are great and the pay is about average. New drilling fluid technologies are always being developed so there will always be something different.

    Cons

The company structure is disorganized and irrational. The mud system and ticket system are a pain. Most of the companies educational opportunities are not worth the time and energy.

I worked at Newpark Resources full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Benefits, hours (if you get a good shift), salary is median...sort of...

    Cons

Management. Period. They like to not acknowledge any type of change or proper structure. Favorites..why yes..yes they have them. People who don't belong..yes..and the best part is the "Yes man" This idiot will retain a job even if he's wrong. They love that yes man. Title doesn't pay what it should and adding in work making you more of a developer rather than a technical support position. Not a good place to grow. stay...
