I have been working at Newport full-time

    Pros

Newport has a very traditional working environment. The quiet atmosphere allows all employees to stay focused on work with little distractions

    Cons

Would prefer a less traditional working environment to promote employee engagement and boost office morale.

    I worked at Newport full-time

    Pros

    Diverse company with many products.
Great people who care about each other and serving customers.

    Cons

Purchase by MKS has caused shifts.
Politicized interactions between Corporate and Distributed sites.
During my time, less than optimal coordination between sites.

    Advice to Management

Work to develop synergies between the diverse sites in Newport.
There is an incredible amount of talent here; work to retain and grow your people!

I worked at Newport full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good Company Potential. Some of the highest paid employees squander their time doing wasteful activities. Watching Youtube and texting all day long while everyone else works their butt off. And then start working when everyone else is going home for 2 hrs OT. Very efficient. The manager must be blind because he sits in front of him. Another guy works 12 hrs talks for the first 2 hrs takes 2 lunch breaks and stops working 1 1/2 hr before going home. Another old man comes in very early 4 hrs before management comes in and doesn't work. The 2nd shift is a damn joke. there is no supervisor, guys are taking off during work and getting OT. It's like a Casino at night. A lot of gambling. I'm surprised that they still make profit. Employees stage work for OVERTIME. Managers and supervisors are way too passive. The lead is the only one not afraid to confront these guys without backing down and set them straight. He can be a bit too intense though.

    Cons

    Full of Prima Donna (NPO)

    Advice to Management

Grow some balls! Don't be afraid, they're your subordinates.

I worked at Newport full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The close colleagues were always a positive. It was a great experience for the most part. Used to have a very personal, family atmosphere. Great products and a we'll known brand.

    Cons

Company has been lead for a long time by individuals that lack focus, innovation and leadership skills along with a personality that creates a positive motivational workplace. The company has been acquired by MKSI. There is very little synergy or overlap. MKS doesn't seem to understand Newports original core business.

    Advice to Management

Bring back the personal aspect of the company, learn to relate to your employees, be a leader and develop personalities that drive and nurture a positive motivational work environment

    Pros

The people are the primary reason to work there. Work environment is generally acceptable. They do support training and development.

    Cons

Dead end job! Unless you are brown noser, you could spend 10 years in the same position.

    Advice to Management

Reward actual Performance! NOT BUTT KISSING, Politics and fake accomplishments. Think about the long term business, not just making this month or Quarter's numbers. Have some BALLS.

    Pros

Great colleagues, not sure what else to say... Was not a pleasant experience at this company. they really jaded me as a person.

    Cons

Too many hidden agendas. Management plays favorites... l I'll like I said before, it made me very jaded...

    Advice to Management

Just be honest, treat your employees better... If they work their hardest for you, PAY them ehat they are worth! Quarterly revenue means nothing if you have disgruntled workers who won't produce.

I worked at Newport full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Management has no idea what is going on. Because of this, people are able to take 2 hour breaks. People don't do anything. It makes for a very stress free work environment.

    Cons

If you work hard, management won't do anything about it. Salaries are terrible unless you get lucky. The difference in hourly salaries between employees of the same title can vary by $15-$20 an hour. And that difference gets worse when everyone gets the same 3% raise.
