I have been working at News Corp full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good people, good hours, great work/life balance. Nice building, good location in the city...very happy at this company.

    Cons

With such a large company, it can take quite a bit of time to learn the ropes; processes also take a bit longer than they might at a smaller company

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work, and maintain the generous work-life balance you afford your employees. You might be able to streamline some of your protocol a bit more.

    Pros

They just get it - from strategy to culture. Of course there are variations from division to division, but in general, I've never seen people who weren't doing a good job advance -- not for long, at least.

    Cons

As all companies as they grow, it's getting more political with time.

    Advice to Management

Stop buying newspapers. Fix Star TV.

I have been working at News Corp as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of freedom to what you work on as majority of work processes are automated and project timelines are relaxed. Problem area is good so there are many of things that can be solved and improved.

Good for self starters, bad move (although you will like it) for people who like to be told what to do and have clear processes set out for them

    Cons

Easy to let your knives become dull as the pressure from management to perform is not high

    Advice to Management

Apply better management & leadership practices, lots of wasted talent and inefficient teams
