      Good Company

      Oct 5, 2021 - SDR

      Pros

Company believes in work/life balance and makes efforts to drive Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. I'm seeing a lot of complaints from other reviewers about how liberal the company is; guess what? If you do not like it, leave. You should have done your research and asked questions about company culture. It's easy to find--all you have to do is visit the website. For those who complain that the company doesn't do enough: you may not have ever worked at a larger, more well-known/established corporation where executive leadership only cares about revenue and doesn't listen to its employees. As far as other aspects of the company: they have a very generous time-off policy and you get a lot of holidays off. Working virtually is also a huge benefit.

      Cons

Career progression seems a bit slow, also there are many tools they use that are not exactly the best. Some processes can be improved upon and there are often disconnects in communication between groups.

      Great company to work for

      Pros

This company is overall a great company to work for, they care for their employees and make an effort to be inclusive and diverse. The company celebrates its employees on a regular basis and since we have moved to being remote, the company sends us nice things in the mail to boost morale and show their appreciation.

      Cons

With any company there can be some managers and higher ups that can make things a little more difficult. There are some managers who continue to ask employees to do things outside of their role without additional incentive like pay increase or

      Pros

The best thing about Newsela is the people! My teammates are kind, hardworking, and passionate and make coming to work everyday (even as a remote employee) fun.

      Cons

There are definitely some general growing pains across the company which are challenging to navigate. Lack of a clear long term vision for succes.

      Headcount

      Pros

Good sales processes and support. Integrated all of the latest greatest in optimization tools(good for subsequent roles)

      Cons

Sales territories are shrinking as they add(unnecesarily) additional headcount. I just went through a summer of incredible opportunity after being let go and I would recommend you check elsewhere before accepting a role here.

      Pros

Company overall is a decent company. Pay for SDR is okay and benefits are decent. Company is very flexible when it comes to time off.

      Cons

Company is VERY Liberal and gets pushed on employees. I feel they should tow the line on a political agenda. Pay is average. Over my 3 years I never had a review. Company has been growing so fast they now have unrealistic goals for sales/SDR

      Pros

Interesting idea if well implemented. Company offers good compensation and ok benefits.

      Cons

The product itself is a disorganized jumble of articles, often off-topic and often repeated in different branches of the collection. The navigation is not easy. Original texts are not all equally good, but lower levels and the assessments appear to be mostly written by people who don’t know the subject matter. The work environment is political, and lacking professionalism. Workflows are confused and disorganized. The workplace culture emphasizes who is a friend with who rather than experience or expertise.
