    Pros

Some of the Pros of Nexans' Walkill, NY plant are as follows:
-The corporation promotes Safety at a very good level.
-The Plant is very clean (mostly because everyone has to pitch in to clean)
    -Pay is decent

    Cons

Some of the reasons not to work at Nexans are as follows:
-Like any factory it is dreary and depressing at times.
    -Machinery is kind of old.
-There are no benefits for part timers. (Not sure if there are for full timers or not).

    Advice to Management

Possinly provide benefits to all employees. Most employees would probably appreciate higher pay. Maybe update the equipment and tools more frequently

    Cons

Others that choose not to take pride and produce a quality product and was some of the things that cause the company to shut down

    Advice to Management

Taking time to produce a good product is not that hard it just requires team work and motivation and rushing leaves room for mistakes

    Pros

Good benefits package for the current full time employees. Company is brand new in the United states. Overall good location for the cable manufacturer company in the United States.

    Cons

Overworked staff. Week executive mamagement.A lot of office politics by the executive management creating a poor work environment. No standards or specifications created for the United States market.

    Advice to Management

executive management advice is to create a positive working environment instead of a negative working environment. Place individuals where they can meet the role of the position. Spend wisely

    I worked at Nexans full-time

    Pros

Benefits package is great! Bonuses are an added plus. The individual employees are great too.

    Cons

Leadership in America is currently very, very weak. The executives who run the show are doing a poor job in executing projects; keeping talent and creating a good work environment. The employee are overwork; understaffed and have poor morale. A lot of office politics created by the executive management make it difficult to work effectively especially as a director or manager.

I worked at Nexans full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits paid 100% by company for employees and family
Other benefits paid by employer include group life, dental, short term and long term disability
Bi-annual objective based bonuses up to 150% of set amount per contract
Employees (minus senior management), very personable and honestly care for one another
    Company is profitable

    Cons

-Very toxic atmosphere created by senior leadership
-Senior Executive Team is extremely out of touch with employees. Bickering and discord within their own team creates pettiness and makes it difficult to have open conversations
-Like/Dislike of individual makes or breaks bonuses, pay increases, treatment and worry of termination
-Life/Work balance out of control- some people work until 12 midnight consecutive days once or more a month
-Amount of work per person is overload (way more than I have seen in other companies).
    -Constant worry of
-Ungratefulness towards employees especially those who are the most dedicated
-Pay is lower than industry/area standards
-Individuals are not treated as people but rather, replicable
-Out of control gossip/rumor due to Executive team to be transparent.
-Hostile treatment by an executive team member has employees scared

    Advice to Management

CEO needs to take control of the company. Values, mission and vision are said not done and that needs to change. Value employee input. Stop the ridiculous amounts of overtime and create life/work balance. Genuinely care about employees. Be clear and upfront in all conversations.

    Pros

Quality products and good industry reputation, great benefits package, nice atmosphere and located in a very nice part of central Pennsylvania.

    Cons

Offer commodity products at above average price points, leading to market share issues. Weak go-to-market strategy, marketing collateral, website and CRM tools limit sales opportunities.

I worked at Nexans (More than 8 years)

    Pros

There are many positives at Nexans. In the US, the benefits are excellent. Salary, I think, is average or maybe a bit lower than average. Job security is generally very good. There are many opportunities for training, including a program called Nexans University which provides internal training opportunities. Nexans says they are committed to training and I believe that is true.

    Cons

Within the LAN division, the management is frighteningly clueless about communication, vision, even common sense decisions. They tend to unwittingly demotivate people by careless comments during meetings. It's too bad because most of the employees are quite dedicated and they are just hungry for someone to actually lead them. In the other divisions, the biggest problem is "old" employees, and I don't just mean age. They are of the mindset that what they have been doing for the past 30 years is fine, and there is no need to change. That is VERY frustrating and will ultimately be their undoing. The aerospace division and the HV division seem on track and to be well organized and positioned to grow.

    Advice to Management

Be open to new ideas...you don't have to adopt every idea, but at least listen. For BerkTek, management (especially the President), what were you thinking in taking the scholarship money for your kid??? Seriously? People making $10 an hour on the shop floor need this money for their kids...the company president making way into the 6 figures doesn't! It is one of the strongest examples of bad judgment I have ever seen and it still makes me furious.

I have been working at Nexans full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There are a lot of good people working here and generally speaking it is fun and supportive. We have good products and market share and better than average benefits and pay compared to other businesses in the area.

    Cons

The corporate management is in France which adds red tape and stupid decisions on occasion. We've weathered one of those bad decisions just last year (which was our worst in the past 10), and are now coming back pretty well.

I'd also say the work-life balance isn't great. Other places give better compensation time, time off, flexible time, and ability to work from home than Nexans.

    Advice to Management

Leave more control to local businesses and plants instead of trying to dictate from the top.
