"Assurance: Good for entry level, Good for people who want to stay in a Company forever, Else stay far away"

    Pros

    - Great for entry level. As A2/A3, you are forced to take on responsibility higher than your rank due to shortage of staff. In return, you gained more exposure and skills than your peers. (No pain, no gain) You get to involve in audit of the entire financial statement sections, a fuller picture. The firm have a lot of training sessions to keep up the competence of its staffs. - I was lucky to be in a team that... is very supportive of its team members. Team culture is excellent (provided you join the right team). The Company culture not so. - It's official working hours is 8:30 to 5:30, how cool is that!! If you are a workaholic who loves overloading work, long hours with fixed low pay and unclear objective performance bonus, this the Company to be in! - Rarely I heard my colleagues and I able to claim OT hours (capped at 40 hours). Normally, Our timesheet is also filled 8 hours per work day. Such a work-life balance that other audit firm should envy! - Since management value loyalty (no. of years work) more than cumulative performance, no incentive to overperform, just do mediocre and grind the years up the corporate ladder. - Among the unsolved mystery of life, you will find NexiaTS's KPI, performance assessment and calculation of performance bonus to be in it. Spooky.

    Cons

    - Your Client is always right. Your Boss is always right. Sorry sorry, I am always at the wrong. Also, Cleaning Auntie is always right. - If you are a new comer, you got to overcome the established oligarchs (ppl that stay in the firm for too long) that have favorable negotiation of manpower and projects. But if you stay long enough, you will join them to deny favorable resources to new joined managers. -... Don't you love it that your performance (Nov - April 20X1) is only assessed 9 months later (Oct - Nov 20X1) , then the bonus is only paid out 12-15 months later (Mar & June 20X2). - Some audit procedures is unproductive, non-value adding checklist filling exercise that make staff lose focus on what is critical or important. Using too much resources chasing small details that is of little value to the audit process. - "We take this opportunity to thank you for your valuable contribution to the Company" is the only personal level appreciation that management will ever show (annually once)

    Advice to Management

Rely more on AI since this Company don't know how to retain low & middle level staff. Remove or fixed the time bugetting. 1. How is it quantifiable that a rank's billable hours is $XXX per hours?? You hiring an atomic scientist is it? 2. It's believable that everyone only work 8 hours per work day. (there is a lot of attempts to change this stigma but ppl have to maintain the imaginary recovery margin)... 3. [Audit fee > target margin > number of resources needed for the audit] Shouldn't it be the other way around?? How much time needed to spend on an engagement, target margin then quote audit fee? 4. Maintaining imaginary recovery margin by cutting resources You may consider implementing a software in laptops that tracks how much time is spent on the different tasks (billable hours to client A, client B, General - email) to honestly make a more accurate truthful timesheet.

    Pros

    Not about the title mentioned.

    Cons

Imagine you are one of the client and the moment you walk in and all you can see is a black look lady sitting there at the reception and as if the whole world is offending her. Does not even smile. What would be your first impression of this firm? Imagine you are the client, sitting at the waiting area or one of the meeting rooms, hearing this lady talk rudely on the phone. Would you still think it’s professional,... since she is working in a professional audit firm. Imagine you are here for an interview, hearing this lady talk unwillingly and as if the staff is disturbing her “5:30pm-sharp-off-work” plan. Would you still considering joining this firm? Mind you that you are going to see this lady every morning when you reach the office. If all the above are fine with you, you are welcome to join Nexia. p.s.: The funny thing is even the cleaner auntie can shout and talk rudely to the managers and associate directors, over some petty matters.

    Advice to Management

Please manage your front desk team, they are quite often the first person that client interacts with when making contact with your firm, so they are essentially the face and voice of your firm!

    Pros

Working environment in the department is good to learn, there is freedom given to you to work as long as you complete your job on time and do your job well. Recommended for fresh graduates as the learning curve is steep. Although the salary may be lower than expected, it is a good stepping stone to further your career as you handle a lot, even more things that you expect you will do and learn. But everyone will... handle it and die together, so that is good. Fosters camaraderie. A lot of interaction with senior management of clients, something you may not be able to get in a Big 4 setting which will definitely improve your social skills and the way you interact with management level in future.

    Cons

Uncommonly long period of notice for tendering of resignation. Lower than industry salary (from my understanding) Uncommonly long bond for no reason (other than giving you the opportunity to work) - this is their way of employee retention?

    Advice to Management

Do more for employee retention. Be more transparent. Current HR team is good.

    Pros

open door policy. more con than pro

    Cons

rude support colleagues (admin/front desk), create bad impression to clients, even worse to staff. rundown building, telephone system not working, internet always down or disconnect. secretaries unable to see partners' schedule, aircon always break down REJECT loss making clients, too many of them that cause staff to be overworked and in the end lose the profitable ones

    Advice to Management

walk around the office more to feel the vibe and morale of staff. talk to staff in more personal settings instead of MD sessions in big groups where nobody will speak up have sessions to address staff more often y bother doing exit interviews when nothing is done when feedback given
