    Pros

Freedom to market as you choose, good pay, good benefits, reputation

    Cons

Inadequate training, new reps are thrown to the wolves with unreasonable expectations. To much ‘paper’work and to many meetings keep you off of the street. Forced to sell what your quota is rather than a clients needs.

    Advice to Management

Training shouldn’t be read this, if you have any questions, ask. Especially when managers don’t have time.

    Pros

This company is a great entry level job when you're looking to start out in the news/media market.

    Cons

The company is great but the employers are heavily politically biased and have a very strong political agenda that smothers anyone who disagrees. It seems more of a political job than a news job because they will prevent you from posting some content because it might hurt the sponsors.

    Advice to Management

    Produce news, not politics.

I worked at Nexstar Media Group full-time

    Pros

The benefits, in terms of health insurance, are quite good and inexpensive.

    Cons

The quality of the product has become secondary to profit. What they consider synergies of combining stations means that fewer people are doing more work for less money.

I have been working at Nexstar Media Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

For someone just starting, you can get some good experience. You can easily transition to a couple of higher positions (news photographer, producer.)

    Cons

Management is extremely anti-union, and very stingy with raises (1.5% annually for veteran workers. Newer hires will be .5% if the company gets its way in next contract vote.) Never enough gear. Lack of maintenance for gear they have and equipment fails too often. Veteran workers are discriminated against.

    Advice to Management

Value your veteran employees instead of trying to get rid of them for being expensive. Actually listen to work related complaints to make the product better.

I have been working at Nexstar Media Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Within the first year of Nexstar owning the station, they bought us a brand new set with a brand new graphic package.

    Cons

Management have their moments. For the most part they work very well with vacation days.

  8. "Worse nightmare!"

    Pros

Go into work knowing that you will be self taught. Hopefully you get along with co workers

    Cons

Management is very self centered. Don’t really care about the individual. You have been warned!!

    Advice to Management

Take some long vacations and plan to retire early.

I worked at Nexstar Media Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Relatively low-cost health insurance, standard vacation days and sick days

    Cons

Damages/buy-out was extremely disproportionate to salary. They try to trap you into a low-earning market.

    Advice to Management

Buy-outs/damages for a two-year contract for a $20-$30,000 salary should not be as much as an employee makes in a year before taxes. Ridiculous.
