    Pros

Any tv station you work at for Nexstart will give you good experience for your resume and whatever job comes next. You will know how to work quickly, work under pressure, and handle tough situations. If you can survive in a news room you can survive anywhere

    Cons

Very stressful Very very fast-paced Lots of things going on at once Just do your work and don’t get involved in any of the side dramas and such that could take place in the office Low pay for amount of work

    Advice to Management

Say thank you to your staff Show appreciation LOTS OF PRAISE

    Pros

    Great GM and News Director

    Cons

    Equipment missing or not enough

    Advice to Management

The community atmosphere of Nexstar is no assigned desks and shared computers which made it difficult when on a deadline

I worked at Nexstar Media Group full-time

    Pros

    Crime and Storm reporting experience

    Cons

Making less than a McDonalds worker and overworked. Tasks are constantly added to normal daily reporting requirements. Along with filming, writing, and editing your daily stories... also required to edit separate products for social media, cut and write stories for website, most likely assigned 2 separate VOSOTS and 1 PKG a day. Not uncommon to have to create 2 PKGs. Constantly threatened with no overtime to accomplish...

I have been working at Nexstar Media Group full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Digital tools available to further push the on-air product, easy working with sister stations to share content

    Cons

Not a lot of room for advancement, slow on the "digital first" initiative, do not pay their employees adequately

I have been working at Nexstar Media Group full-time

    Pros

Freedom to market as you choose, good pay, good benefits, reputation

    Cons

Inadequate training, new reps are thrown to the wolves with unreasonable expectations. To much ‘paper’work and to many meetings keep you off of the street. Forced to sell what your quota is rather than a clients needs.

    Advice to Management

Training shouldn’t be read this, if you have any questions, ask. Especially when managers don’t have time.

I have been working at Nexstar Media Group full-time

    Pros

    The medical insurance is good.

    Cons

The pay is bad in order to keep their overhead low and the GM’s are greedy in order to get their own bonus. The current GM is a bully, hateful and shows favoritism to the ones kissing up to her. She belittles the staff in front of others rather than doing it behind closed doors. Other upper management makes up lies so they won’t be held accountable for their own actions. The reporters are all sleeping with each other...

I have been working at Nexstar Media Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

This company is a great entry level job when you're looking to start out in the news/media market.

    Cons

The company is great but the employers are heavily politically biased and have a very strong political agenda that smothers anyone who disagrees. It seems more of a political job than a news job because they will prevent you from posting some content because it might hurt the sponsors.

    Advice to Management

    Produce news, not politics.

I worked at Nexstar Media Group full-time

    Pros

The benefits, in terms of health insurance, are quite good and inexpensive.

    Cons

The quality of the product has become secondary to profit. What they consider synergies of combining stations means that fewer people are doing more work for less money.
