    Pros

Big company with many stations across the country. If you are not on air, there is mobility to move to different stations.

    Cons

Like all news media companies, upper management is toxic and constantly trying t make employees do more with less.

    Pros

Their health insurance plan is among the best you will find in any industry. Reasonable premiums, low deductibles, copays, and out of pocket maximums. News operations do a good job of staying objective and reporting fairly and accurately. Large size of the company means it is relatively easy to move to a different/larger market. Company does a decent job of investing in technology and equipment, and seems as well-positioned as any to make the transition to digital.

    Cons

It's a big enough operation where you can feel more like a number on a spreadsheet than a valued employee. Minimal communication from those higher on the totem pole can be stifling. Rank and file staff are not always aware of goals, how Company is doing, plans for the future. Company earns record profits but does not share with employees via bonuses. You always get the sense that they would cut your job in a heartbeat if they could figure out a way to do it and save 10 cents a year. Upper management is unimpressive and not exactly approachable. Local management is a mixed bag, but one particularly toxic manager at my local station was allowed to stay in their position long after their superiors were aware that they were problematic and damaging morale.

    Pros

    Health Insurance was pretty good

    Cons

Management Only Out for Themselves Management will NOT Have YOUR BACK There is NO Work/Life Balance. The Upper Management (who, mind you, was a lower management before all of the acquisitions) sit back and do nothing while pushing work down

I worked at Nexstar Media Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

it's a job. however it was fun up until the last year

    Cons

unless you are in upper management or higher, you are only a number. Plus nobody at corporate returns phone calls or emails. Rules are written but not enforced especially in the HUBS. It's like working in a grade school classroom with a substitute teacher at the helm. No rule or order

I have been working at Nexstar Media Group full-time

    Pros

    The medical insurance is good.

    Cons

The pay is bad in order to keep their overhead low and the GM’s are greedy in order to get their own bonus. The current GM is a bully, hateful and shows favoritism to the ones kissing up to her. She belittles the staff in front of others rather than doing it behind closed doors. Other upper management makes up lies so they won’t be held accountable for their own actions. The reporters are all sleeping with each other and get intoxicated in public. GM allows for a lack of professionalism on employees social media posts where they are allowed to curse and post pictures partying. Lack of training and will throw you out to the wolves. Unreasonable performance expectations.

I worked at Nexstar Media Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

If you live in San Francisco, you know KRON 4. Local in reach and great for traffic info and sports.

    Cons

You can’t believe anything managements says. Upper management has allowed sub managers to run amazing people out of this place as fast as they can. How can one manager create such a mass exodus within 14 months is baffling. Good people don’t last here.

I have been working at Nexstar Media Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Used to be an amazing place to work before we were bought out by Nexstar. The only pro now is you have a job, but don’t expect to be paid what you’re worth.

    Cons

Hostile work environment, and clients are numbers. Mangers encourage AE’s to go after each others accounts. Since Nexstar took over they cut expenses, bonuses, pay, commissions and time off. All Nextstar cares about is the bottom line. Locally, upper management is scared to fire those who are doing a horrible job. That includes managers, because of their connections. If you’re thinking about working for Nexstar, RUN to one of the other stations in the market. Oh, and they cap your income by taking your accounts and leads. And Hyfn is a joke.
