I have been working at Next Retail part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good staff discount, fairly easy job, flexible hours and contracts, ability to take up and offer shifts on a marketplace. Generous uniform allowance.

    Cons

Managers/area managers can be pushy when it comes to their your interactions with customers, with sales promotions etc. Sale periods gets very busy, and you may find yourself working long shifts 6-8 days in a row, and during Xmas eve/Boxing Day. Short breaks even for long shift lengths.

    Advice to Management

Don't give employees a hard time for chatting for a minute, then all stand together talking amongst yourselves and ignoring customers. Hypocrisy rubs staff up the wrong way.

    Pros

Good bonus', organisation of the company is good! Shift marketplace allows you to offer 50% of your shifts up for that week, so you don't have to use holiday to get time off

    Cons

A lot of pressure for staff. Told off for things management should be responsible for. Not great for students who need to be transferred for the summer
