I have been working at NextEra Energy, Inc. full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Nextera promotes a culture of continuous improvement. Perfect environment for those that enjoy a fast pace. Opportunities to network, participate is special projects and relocate on a permanent or temporary basis. There are a. Umber of Employee Resource Groups available that can support personal and career growth.

    Cons

For those new to the company, it can be hard to navigate. I would high suggest participation in a mentoring program to shorten the learning curve and get a fuller view of the numerous opportunities available within the NextEra companies.

    Advice to Management

Providing opportunities for employees from all areas of the company to come together in support of improving our business was a very valuable experience. I am looking forward to continued participation.

    Pros

Rewarding job. Great team. Large amount of resources. The company has a good benefits and 401k program. They match 3% of whatever you put in.

    Cons

Limited upward mobility. Hard to get salary increases. Sometimes the bosses tell you that you are on the right track but to little else to help your career

    Advice to Management

    Focus more on talent retention

I have been working at NextEra Energy, Inc. full-time

    Pros

Good pay, excellent 401k and pension plan. Paid time off. Medical/dental/vision plans, life insurance, long and short term disability. Employee discounts for numerous items.

    Cons

Long shifts, short on operators makes for many OT opportunies which can be both good and bad depending on your opinion.

    Advice to Management

Continue to bring in quality talent, work to increase number of operators per shift then address vacant daystff positions to help with planning and adminstrative duties.

I worked at NextEra Energy, Inc. full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Smart, intelligent, and good natured workforce. Met some of the best colleagues I have during my time at NextEra. My particular team allowed work from home and was supportive of work/life balance. Decent bonus program.

    Cons

Shrinking benefits. Do more with less attitude, placing unreasonable expectations on a work force that is not long term sustainable. Director level management does't work well together, lots of politics and drama. Unmotivated workforce. NextEra often states it's a leader in the industry, yet is quick to state impacts to benefits are in-line with what the industry is doing.

    Advice to Management

The NextEra culture prior to the Robo era as CEO was very people centric. The company seemed to really care about it's workforce and the benefits were in-line with other big companies. Robo's management style is big on bottom lines so there's been a gradual reduction in benefits and workforce numbers due to budget cuts and hiring freezes. People make NextEra run and NextEra needs to acknowledge this and return to the time when they took take care of their workforce. The "Do more with less" philosophy is forcing good people to find better opportunities elsewhere.

I worked at NextEra Energy, Inc. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazing campus, cafeteria options, fitness center. Many varying growth paths within such a large organization.

    Cons

Large organization makes it difficult for talent to stand out.
Work-life balance can be a challenge depending on the business unit.
Salary was low for the market.

    Advice to Management

Look more closely at your wealth of internal talent and work to keep them. Work to better balance salaries within business units for similar roles and titles.

I worked at NextEra Energy, Inc. full-time

    Pros

You get a lot of exposure to different parts of the business. There are a lot of different roles you can move into within the company. If you are interested in the renewable energy industry, you will learn a lot from this company.

    Cons

The expectation is hard work, long hours, constantly responding to fire drills. There is no reward for going above and beyond your job responsibilities. There are some office politics to deal with. Work/life balance is horrible. Pay is low compared to other companies in the industry. Also, the Juno office has started downsizing cubicles to cram people into different areas. It feels like a call center.

    Advice to Management

Look at your employees as people. Look at ways to incentive your employees to stay and move up in the company.
