I have been working at NextEra Energy, Inc. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Many of the employees are nice and willing to help and give some info that helps with my role

    Cons

Poor leadership, HR for the site needs improvement, if you are a woman of strong character and direct, it is not received well or respected. They say they want feedback however leadership role ambiguity, expectations are not clear and conflict with fleet expectation. Politics causes slow change, if any change at all, procedures only used when it benefits someone's agenda and if you do not agree with opinions you are viewed negatively. Many people have only worked in energy and only at the site, which causes issues with best practices being shared when new people come in, or a close minded approach to anything an outsider suggests. Benefits are ok, and work life balance is encouraged, but you do end up having to devote a lot of time.

    Advice to Management

Invest in training for leadership at sites and fleet, initiatives need to be address correctly based on the procedures, focus on change and transformation management training or utilize people who have experience with certifications. encourage acceptance of all, diversity exists in charter as well as many other things and it seems to be something that is lost.

    Cons

Very long hours, no benefits offered, not much felxibility in scheduling, uncertainity to job stability, required to travel to the middle of nowhere to work like a crazy man

    Advice to Management

    more flexible scheduling

I worked at NextEra Energy, Inc. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

0 - NONE. The only thing I would say is the parking is good and employee doesn't have to pay for it

    Cons

Office politics. Very clickish. Worst company with office politics I have ever worked for. If you are not in their click, other employees will do what they can to get rid of you and tattle tell to HR instead of having an adult professional conversation. It's like high school all over!

    Advice to Management

Management is horrible!! They don't listen to employees.

I worked at NextEra Energy, Inc. full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good Pay and Benefits package

    Cons

Site was very understaffed. 5 techs for 40 turbines and each tech had a collateral duty with a large amount of online training and testing and only work an 8 hr. day. On call was 3 weeks on/ 2 weeks off, but had 100% availability requirement. Crew was rundown and very tired so they were making mistakes and poor teamwork. It seemed my site supervisor was stressed out from upper managements demands.

    Advice to Management

Yes, it's good to run lean and keep costs low, but not at the expense of your people. At this site you took it too far and it became an unsafe working environment.
