I have been working at Nexus Energy Software full-time

    Pros

The work is fun and management is supportive of employees and their work-life balance. The input of individual contributors is respected, for the most part.

    Cons

Planning is not a strength. Major projects were tackled without proper resource allocation while projects that had not been shown to be significant sources of revenue generation were allowed to continue.

    Advice to Management

The culture shift that is in process needs to be allowed time to play out. Change will be for the better but it will not happen over night.

I have been working at Nexus Energy Software full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some good people. Hard working folks. Friendly colleagues.
Great knowledge of the energy realm.

    Cons

Upper management no longer knows where the company is going.
Some management blind to real issues.
    Wrong people at higher levels.
Lack of investment in research and development.

    Advice to Management

Look in the mirror. You are a big part of the problem. Get advice from your valuable employees. Move quickly and heed their advice.
Invest in the future. Less talk, more action.

    Pros

To learn a new computing model with smart and dedicated co-workers. In the new GREEN economy this would be a way to contribute to a web focused and solutions company.

    Cons

No structure or enough resources to ease the job load. Also, because of its size, people tend to work EXTRA hard to compensate for lack of resources.

    Advice to Management

Restructure aspects of the organization to allow people to further expand there intrinsic talents. Because of the nature of the existing model, people need to be allowed to express ideas with support from senior management not just thru words, but by adding additional resources to maximize investments.

I worked at Nexus Energy Software full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Potential for great growth, if they can focus and decide which market they want to be in. Lots of hardworking, smart people with deep domain knowledge.

    Cons

Too few resources. They hire more managers rather than technical staff in responce to business demands. Constant fire drills and moving targets result in stress and overwork. Many of the best people have left. Technical people are limited in career paths.

    Advice to Management

Stop the constant reorganizations and hire some technical people, then treat them with respect instead of like tools for the project managers to use and discard.

Challenges all the way, good learning atmosphere
    Flexible work place
    Good Management
    No Micro Management
    Everyone knows their responsibilities
    Great colleagues

    Cons

Sometimes work/life balance goes out of hand!
Career growth in certain areas could be limited
Sometimes taxing work to keep up with the schedules.

    Advice to Management

More recognition and on the spot rewards can be brought in to motivate employees. Overall, the company is moving in the right direction.
