I worked at Niagara Parks Commission part-time

    Pros

This was a great job the managers were wonderful to work for. Steady hours and I learned a lot of history while i was there.

    Cons

The one thing that was bad was the fact that it was for the summers only. You can't work year round here. Sometimes the customers are annoying but its the same as every other customer service job.

    - No surprises, everything you would expect of a seasonal job for a student

I worked at Niagara Parks Commission full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

You'll be working in a very beautiful area of Ontario. Co-workers are all very nice.

    Cons

This organization is extremely behind in the times. Niagara Falls is a small city with a small town mentality, and it shows in this organization. Upper management doesn’t invest in middle management to update their skills, let alone look out to other organizations for ideas on progress.

    Advice to Management

Look at middle management and review if they’re suited for the position in terms of training/education. Don’t blame your front-line staff for failing; ask if middle management actually have the skills to be good Leaders? They may good in some respects, but no one is perfect and surely they’ll require skills updating in other respects. The way business is conducted has changed; keep up with current business methodologies and the organization could hopefully move away from being mediocre.
